Own it.
So, I'm new to the site, as of yesterday and I've already learned so much about this horrible skin condition that we've all been living with, but my biggest concern is that all these women are saying that they feel as though that because of their kp, it makes them feel like they have nothing to offer the opposite sex. That they aren't attractive.
I do not agree with this. I know I'm only 16 and, yeah, It does make me feel bad about myself sometimes but I've come to realze that kp does not define me. Nor will I ever let it. We all have something to offer. Kp shouldnt control us. We all have beauty. Even if it isnt the prefect skin we all want. Maybe you have beautiful eyes or that great smile that lights up a room. ****, made you have an amazing personallity that brings joy to everyone. No matter what it is though, you do have something to offer. You do have something wonderful about you. So, own it. |

Re: Own it.
KaityGrace - you're awesome! Your comments are elegantly stated. I wish I was like you when I was 16!
I've had KP on my arms, legs and cheeks for as long as I can remember (I'm 27 now). When I was a teenager, I was pretty insecure about it, and now I realize how silly I was. I used to be obsessed with treatments and exfoliating and all that, but nothing worked. My 'cure' was to change my mindset - I just don't think or worry about KP anymore and now it's not a problem. I honestly have not thought about it for years (until I googled KP today!!). Every now and then a boyfriend or someone may ask why I have bumpy arms and I just laugh and tell them what it is. I've never come across anyone who gave a toss. (Trust me, fellas have other things on their mind when their lady gets naked.) My advice to all is to stop wasting your precious thoughts, words, time and money on treatments that usually don't work and never have a long lasting effect. Focus on being grateful for what you do have, and focus on everything else that's fabulous and unique about yourself. Put energy into whatever makes you laugh and builds your confidence and you will be free from the curse of KP. OWN IT! |

What a great way to look at it! It's always nice to see a woman with a strong self image. Keep up the positive attitude!
