Looking for new cream to use!

I was wondering if anyone had found the following creams useful!

- E45
- Nivea range
- Vaseline range
- Cocoa Butter

I've had to stop using Coconut Oil because it's just so expensive to buy EVERY WEEK! And I have to buy treatments for PCOS as well as KP.

Re: Looking for new cream to use!

Vaseline was ineffective for me. It's good for hydrating the skin and for those problem areas such as dry elbows and knees but other than that it didn't seem to help my KP one bit.

Cocoa Butter (haven't used it long enough to notice the difference, but it didn't help smooth any scars and stretch marks with prolonged usage)

I have not tried the other brands. I found coconut oil to be really helpful in moisturizing my skin and it did smooth the bumps just a tad. (not but too much)

ok, sort of off topic but since you mentioned it...

if you google " PCOS insulin ", you'll get bundles of links because apparently PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) is linked with insulin-resistance.

PCOS: The Role of Insulin

Low carb or paleo diets of sorts help a lot of women manage PCOS. and something that intrigues me about this is that the low carb and paleo diets often bear striking similarities with the anti-candida diets and food sensitivity diets. It makes me think that sometimes those diets work for people maybe for different reasons than they originally thought.

anyway, I stopped using cocoa butter after elsazoe, our resident chemist, said something about it blocking pores more than others. I did find some of the cocoa butter products to at least keep my KP calm. I have made my own cream now using a recipe that's over in the chit-chat section. I bought oils - macadamia, evening primrose, grapeseed, red palm oil butter and apricot kernel oil and vit E - and made cream and it's working fast and well for me. It's cost me about 10 times less than buying the JR Watkins oils and creams I like so much that are a macadamia base but my initial cash layout was large. I have lots of cold storage to insure the oils don't go rancid which is an issue if you get into making your own stuff. - bd

Re: Looking for new cream to use!

Hi,
I just bought some cream that the chemist said apparantly works for KP. Will start using it 2night. Its called Epi-Max Plus. The ingredients listed is as follows: Soft white paraffin, Cetostearyl alcohol, Purified water, Glycerol, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Cetomacrogol 1000, 10% Urea. Whatever all this means!!! I'll let you know if it works or not. It cost me about US$277 (SA R37.00) for 400g.

I use Malibu Tan's Hemp Body Cream. I works very well and it has Coconut oil in it.
