I got a tattoo yesterday in the middle of my upper back. I have KP on my arms and shoulder blades but its milder in the middle. Anyway, the artist was able to do the tattoo regardless, over some of the KP. It didn't bleed, at all, even though it hurt quite a lot --- so if any of you were on here looking for an experience of that nature, thats what happened. The artist also told me I had beautiful skin, so I told him he was a fantastic bull****ter, haha.
But this post is more about confidence. I have no shirts that reveal my upper back, except for a few I bum around in, that happen to help out this situation. Now, I want to go buy a few. The tattoo really takes the focus off of the surrounding KP, and I finally don't feel insecure about my skin. I just figured I'd share my new love for my KP ridden upper back with everyone on this forum, because well, yeah our skin may not be the smoothest...but its ours, and we can still be sexy women nonetheless! Re: Tattoo finally makes me want to show off my back!
Good for you! I have severe issues with showing any skin due to KP on my arms and frequent break-outs on my back. I'm not sure I have the guts to get a tattoo but I'm glad that you've discovered a new found confidence that allows you to dismiss any so-called skin imperfections. I just hope the rest of us will find our own confidence sometime soon.
The best of luck! Amy |

Wow! Awesome! But I'm curious, is it harmful to tattoo over KP? You wrote that the tattoo covers *some* of your KP, but would it be a problem if I wanted to tattoo my arms which happen to be ridden with KP? I love tattoos and I've always wanted to get some, but I'm worried I won't be able to tattoo my arms because of my condition.

LOL. its perfectly fine, I have one on my arm (christ head) and a huge tribal wolf on my back. KP does not interfere with tatoos at all! |

Re: Tattoo finally makes me want to show off my back!
I am just the opposite... I have tattoos in areas where the KP is not present but they are in locations where I would prefer to show them off..the KP interrupts that. I don't know that Tattoos would be negative on KP. When I was researching on whether or not I could exfoliate a tattooed area, I saw this:
Anatomy of a Tattoo Healthy, happy you. | FitSugar - Fitness, Health & Well-Being. I am ever curious about how the human body works, and recently I pondered the permanence of tattoos. Skin is always shedding layers of dead cells (especially if you exfoliate), so how can a tattoo remain year after year? Let's start at the beginning with how a tattoo is created. Tattoos are made by inserting pigment into the skin with an electrically powered solid needle that punctures the skin between 50 and 3,000 times per minute (makes me think of a sewing machine - yikes!!). The needle penetrates the skin by about a millimeter and deposits a drop of insoluble ink into the skin with each puncture. When you look at a person's tattoo, you're seeing the ink through the epidermis - the outer layer of skin. The ink resides in the dermis - the second layer of skin, just below the epidermis. Dermis cells are far more stable than the cells of the epidermis, so the tattoo's ink will stay in place, with only minor fading and dispersion (spreading out), for a person's entire life! |
