New to site, but not to KP

Hello everyone,

My name is Michelle and I've suffered from KP since I was a child (I'm 39 now). I'm African-American and my biggest problem is the dark spots, not so much the texture. Sometimes, I can get my skin really smooth and I don't even feel the bumps, but the look is soooooo unsightly. It's all over my legs, thighs and the backs of my arms. However, the back of my legs from the knee down are completely KP free, but the back of my thighs are covered with the bumps. I wonder why it attacks only certain areas.

Hi Kamster,

Welcome to the KP Forum. Read as much as you can here to find remedies that have helped others. You will find that what works for some doesn't help others. Experiment to find something that helps you. Maybe KP has different causes, and that is why some remedies work while others don't. I don't know why KP occurs in some parts of the body but not others. I do believe that KP is happening because the skin, a massive cleansing organ, is trying to eliminate toxins.

Please keep in touch and let us know if you find something that helps. Feel free to join on-going discussions with questions and comments.

Hi Michelle, I completely understand how you feel. I'm Afro Cuban and my biggest problem has always been the dark spots as well. My skin is now extremely smooth and the spots are slowly getting lighter. Through trial and error I have achieved this with constant exfoliation with a loofa, baths with Neutragena's Body wash (bc it has salicylic acid (this over dries my skin so I like to use dove moisturizing body bar afterwards most of the time) , KP body Scrub, i eat baby carrots every day,i take fish oil capsules with omega-3, i drink green tea , i use kery advanced therapy lotion with vitamin e and aloe vera every day. I still have a long way to go, but so far this has been the things that has been helping me.

Take care and stick around,
Bri
