The hormonal changes during and after pregnancy have an effect on hair growth, so it makes sense that they will have an effect on KP as well.

Worse during pregancy
Me too! It's got a lot worse during pregnancy - it was just on my left arm before; now it's on both arms, plus a few on my forearms and legs.
I some success with Selsun shampoo (contains selenium sulphide, so I supposed it does a similar job to that Sulphur Soap stuff) but you can't officially use it during pregnancy - so annoying! Baby due 1 Nov - who knows whether it will get worse or better again - at least I can start using the shampoo again! |

mine got worse after I stopped breast feeding. and during pregnancy my skin was wonderful. I always had it a little on the back of my arms THEN after I stopped breast feeding it is now on 1 side of my face and very red and noticeable. I never cared with it behind my arms because it wasn't as noticeable. I need help Right now all doctors have given me is steroid cream. I need more tips and help than this. Should I exfoliate? wont that make it more red? What lotion is best?

Me too!
I had been almost KP free for a couple of years until the last two months of pregnancy and then wow did it get bad post partum. Now, my baby is 8 months old and it has gradually improved but still worse than it was before. Hee hee, it will probably be back to minimum just in time for me to get prego with #2, and then it will go like that until I'm done w/ the kiddos! Jeez, it really is depressing. I will say that the KP on my rear and the back of my thighs cleared up with lotion and exfoliating shortly after I gave birth (and it was really really bad there during the last part of the pregnancy). Now the KP bumps on the front of my upper arm slowly seems to be coming to a head and clearing. There don't seem to be any new ones either. The backs of my arms seem to be doing the same thing. But, it is taking absolutely forever! I have been using Amlactin 12% twice a day and scrubbing it in w/ a loofah. I just ordered the sulfur soap with salicylic acid from sulfursoap.com and hope that will help. It really did back in the day but for a long time after I gave birth nothing seemed to help at all! Now that things seem to be getting a bit better I am hoping it will work again. I still haven't had a period so I'm assuming my hormones are still out of wack. That has to be the culprit, I'm thinking. My theory is that the estrogen deficit dries out the skin so the KP is worse. Of course, the babies are more than worth it but STILL! Ugh. Take care all. I'll post again w/ any results.
