Hi all, i'm new to the forum, have been reading since this morning. I have been diagnosed with KP on Friday, never heard of it before, as doctors said i had folliculitis. As I'm going on holidays rather soon, and as usual warm places are only embarrassing as im the only one wearing looong sleeves, which just makes me feel like im melting away. I'm afraid if i keep complaining about it, i will not only feel worse myself, but it's becoming a killer in my relationship. Does anyone know a great way of covering up the redness/bumps so we are able to walk around in tshirts? Any fashion tips? Also has anyone tried these body lotions which tans the body slowly? do they help in covering up this "red madness"? Any tips or help would be HIGHLY appreciated

Re: covering up the redness
I gotta say, I think I've finally found the absolute best thing to cover up the redness. Dermablend is a makeup for more demanding skin types, like rosacea and port wine stains. And because the redness from KP can be just as bad as these other skin conditions, I figured I'd try out the Leg and Body Foundation. Holy ****, it's absolutely incredible. This makeup, plus the setting powder, not only covers my redness but also looks completely natural-- and stays on for a very, very long time. I use it whenever I wear short sleeves, and even when I go to the gym (and I sweat a LOT!). I think Dermablend probably works best on people with KP that have more of the redness than the bumps-- but even with the bumps, I'm sure it works great. make sure to moisturize beforehand, this stuff has a very matte consistency and you need a smooth surface to make sure it blends in well. And get the Setting Powder to make sure you get the most out of it. Good luck!!!

Re: covering up the redness
hi zen within:
my kp is worst on my entire arms with redness, bumps and some scarring. i am also going on vacation in february, so i have started a new regimen that seems to be working. up until this week i have been relying on glycolic acid scrubs and lotions which help a lot with the bumps but actually make the redness more pronounced with my sensitive skin. so, i have stopped that and am now exclusively scrubbing my arms with a loofah during my a.m. shower, and at night i am applying Aveeno Active Naturals Continuous Radiance Moisturizing Lotion. the thing that got my attention about this lotion is what it says on the tube "visibly evens skin tone and texture". it is one of those sunless tan lotions but it also contains a moisturizer that lasts 24 hours. so far, my arms are getting slowly more tanned and the redness seems less noticeable. they also feel very moisturized and soft. in order to not have freakishly tan arms and a pale body, i am trying to lay in the sun more to create a more natural effect. i purchased the Aveeno lotion at my local drugstore, and it was not expensive. it comes in different shades, and the one i am using says it is for medium skin tones. that is all they had, or i would have gotten one for fair skin instead. the only downside to this lotion that i have noticed is that it smells quite perfumey when you first apply it, but hey, i can live with that. have a great trip and i hope this helps you in some way. ![]() mcp |

Re: covering up the redness
My sister has a a problem where she has been losing pigmentation in her skin and was very self conscious of her hands which are very obvious in her work (nothing to do with kp), someone told her about dermablend and she says it's fantastic - especially to last all day so I'm thinking of getting some just to use on the kp next summer (easy to cover up during winter!).

Re: covering up the redness
I recently got married in a strapless (yes, strapless) dress. I have had KP for years, but I found the perfect dress and I was not about to let KP stop me from wearing it. I actually used a combination of Makeup Forever foundation mixed with a little lotion and had my maid of honor apply it all over my shoulders and arms. Then I applied a loose powder by Makeup Forever and it lasted all day and into the night. My arms looked really nice and tan in all my pictures and you could not tell I had red bumps. The Makeup Forever line is very transfer resistant, so it did not rub off on any of the people I hugged that day either! It is not a solution I recommend for everyday use because it is kind of a lot of work, but for a special occasion, it works! Here is a link to the makeup I used: Make Up, Cosmetic - Make Up Porducts - Cosmetic Products - Beauty Products - Professional Make Up - Make Up For Ever

Re: covering up the redness
Thanks for the tip Haarma. I am finally going on my honeymoon and I am terrified about wearing swimwear. My KP covers about 95% of my legs. Do you know what the US Dollar conversion is on this particular site and also how did you match your skintone with the product? (Lucky in matching or had to return for correct color?)

Re: covering up the redness
I buy mine at Sephora in the US and I matched my skin tone in the store. I am not sure how much it costs anywhere else, but at Sephora, it is $34. I don't know if you live near a mall, but if you don't, you can buy it here: http://www.sephora.com/browse/produc...egoryId=C13402
Hope this helps! |

Re: covering up the redness
I use Jergins Glow gradual tanner on my arms and I have noticed that it seems to camoflauge the redness and it looks natural (not orange like some tanners can be). Good luck!
