My KP affects the backs of my thighs, which makes me self-conscious to wear shorts. The disorder also makes my elbows and knees extremely rough - I've actually left red scratches on my mother from accidently rubbing against her. Wearing 3/4-length sleeves make me feel better. My legs are also scarred from multiple mosquito bites from childhood, where I have picked the scabs. Capris make all the difference. I also have the red cheeks from KPRF, which is getting better with the new Eucerin line.
I haven't had any problems with relationships due to the KP. Guess all the guys I have known know that beauty is more than skin deep. |

Dealing with your Keratosis Pilaris is always difficult, but once you bring someone else in the picture, it becomes a larger insecurity issue because you're worried about what the other person is thinking when they look at you or touch you.
Being a person who still deals with this, I understand, completely. The only thing I can say has already been mentioned in previous posts. If your partner has chosen you for something deeper than superficial features, you will always remain beautiful to that person. "Love looks not with the eye, but with the mind, therefore is winged Cupid painted blind" It helps to know that the most sexual organ of a human's body is not their skin; their lips; or anything related to the physical body, it is your mind. The way you are is enough to entice. Also, another point to remember is that if you cannot love, accept or be proud of yourself, how can you accept someone else loving and accepting you? My paralysed hands will type no more. Angella. |
