KP on my breasts... anyone else with this problem?
About a year and a half ago- I got two strips of KP in a half moon on each breast above my nipples. At first I didn't think much about it because I was single and was so busy. Recently I was intimate with a man and he mentioned my "tan lines." I was so embarrassed! The patches on my breasts are darker than the ones on my legs and arms... I am feeling quite depressed and embarrassed to have the light on. I had to explain to him about my "skin disorder" and that it's not contagious. It really ruined the moment. Does anyone else have it on their breasts?
Thanks Nelly |

Hi girls,
Firstly those guys don't deserve you. Secondly i have minor KP on my breasts, in that i will ocassionally get KP there when i'm extremly stressed. My arms and thighs are my worst spots. when i started seeing my boyfriend (only recently) he asked me why my arms were so bumpy and red. i explained KP to him and he has been grerat. i'm a massive picker of mine and i know that this is a bad thing, but can't help myself i've had KP for as long as i can remember, even as a kid. My bf just slaps at my hand if i start picking as most of the time i don't realise that i'm doing it. I've found that over summer my KP improves as i wear singlets alot so i get a decent amount of sun helps. i've been told that this is because that KP is a vitamin D deficeny problem and sunlight has heaps of Vitamin D within it. not sure how acurate this is but if your prepared to sunbake topless it might help - just remember to put sunscreen on. It won't block the effect of the Vitamin D just the UV rays. Good luck |

Yeh, I've had this problem off and on. An 8% glycolic treatment/cleanser that also had a little pepermint and an almond based soap element to it _really_ made my chest, back, facial and shoulder skin so lovely. I didn't need it for a few years (pregnancy and breastfeeding was the difference I think) but I'm at a point where I need it again. I can't find it online as "SkinSense 2000" which was the brand I bought it as in southern California. I'm thinking of trying Derma-E which is available at vitacost.com and is not cost prohibitive for me. Turquois has good info and links about AHA treatment and those online stores have a lot of products.
LMK if you try any of the products, please! |

About AHA lotion: DO NOT get it directly on the nipples. I guess I was leaning over a little too far when applying 20% glycolic lotion to my legs (while completely unclothed, after showering) and didn't realize how much gravity had taken effect till the next morning when things really kinda hurt. Do be cautious.

Yeah, embarrassing to admit to, but ouchy enough I wouldn't want anyone else to make my mistake. Unfortunately I can't blame it on being overly endowed, just on being in too big a hurry to pay enough attention... (D'oh!)

Soon after my last post here, I started dermabrasion in my daily shower using sugar and apple cider vinegar. Basically, if I just do my face, chest and back, it's about a half cup of sugar and a scant Tablespoon of ACV and then enough water to make a pastey slurry. It has really improved my acne in these areas and I have had less and less KP. I tried the sugar scrub since I wanted to be kind to my septic tank and also because glycolic acid is derived from sugar and I figured I'd get the dermabrasion benefit but also some acid. If you try this, you might want to start with less acv as the fumes are a little strong right on your face. I had started OP a couple weeks before starting the dermabrasion and it definitely improved the tone of my skin but wasn't as big a boost as when I added in the scrub. It's also easy enough for me to do and not as expensive as buying products. - bd
June 16th - I've used my burt's bees parsley blemish stick(s) for a couple of weeks (I stopped the dermabrasion as per directions I'm following) also on some of the few blemishes that were popping up and I gotta say, i have less kp/acne all over these areas. i started using the blemish stick on KP patches elsewhere too but, damn, now I can wear my sundresses and don't feel as shy about my breasts right now cause they're pretty clear. The blemish stick and the tomato toner. both products have exfoliators like salicylic acid (from yarrow and willow) and antimicrobials and alcohol and anti-inflammatories. I pay about $8 a stick (roll-on type) and the same for the toner but I am really happy with both or either. I haven't had such good luck since a glycolic product I used to get worked and it was pricey also. I bet there are other similar things around, also this stuff is available on the web. My store ran out and I'm trying some "Juice Organics" brand cleanser and serum on face, neck and chest (including breasts.) It has similar stuff, glycolics, calendula, some plant extracts. For a couple days, I'd say it's not quite as good in my case since I get acne too and I have to treat for both but I'll see. I'm liking the "vitamin anti-oxidant serum" on my face but the burt's stick and toner for my breasts is working some magic right now. Last edited by bunnyday; 06-16-2007 at 10:28 PM. i think i might have it on my breasts. it doesn 't look the same though. It started out looking like the pores had mysteriously gotten larger. Now there are little white things that have developed in the pores. its as if sebum has dried in them and is sticking out slightly. i can take a pair of tweezers and pull them out. i have often wondered if i could put some of that silver tape that sticks to everything across my breasts and pull all of them out.

I tried a teeny-tiny bit of amlactin just at the top edge of my left aerola (sp?) where I had some definite kp. worked like a dream on that spot. I don't quite dare using it all over my chest where I also get acne. anyone tried this?
Sassafras - did you ever try besides that showering accident? |

Re: KP on my breasts... anyone else with this problem?
I have a little little bit on my breasts... sigh... it sucks, I think it's also starting to spread down my left arm... but it's not as obvious as the upper arms, probably because my lower arms are more tan.

arghh such a horrible thing right? well its not bad on mine as it is in the rest of my body but its still there. i just have lots of flesh colored bumps not so much red or brown.... i'm just so sick of it. i just found out that theres not really a cure since it'll come back and the thought of it made me sick... sure you can go on with your life "living" with it.. but theres always gonna be someone to point it out...
