This has cleared up my KP
Hi! I am new here and have this aggravating problem really BAD on my upper arms only. I wanted to share with you all how I cleared up my KP. The way I figured this out was really by an experiment. I purchased a Extra-Strength Pro-Activ kit for my son for the pimples on his face. He found that it did not work for him on his face at all. Per the dermatologist nutrogenia cleansers work better for him. Anyway since he was not using the products I did not want it going to waste. I hate to brag but I have the nicest skin on my face for a 46 year old female it is clear and smooth-well enough of that. Like I said I did not want the products going to waste, so I thought I would use it on my upper arms to see if it would help with the KP, since I did not need it for my face. Everything I had used in the past did not work so I thought what the heck.
At first I used the scrub when I showered, the kit comes with 3 steps. Then at night before bed I rubbed on the step 3 which is a clearing lotion with benzoyl peroxide which one would use after the toner ( I did not use the toner which is step 2) I found after a week or so it cleared it right up. The clearing lotion with the benzoyl does not smell, so it was not unpleasant to sleep with it on, and it absorbs right away so it did not stain my night clothes, it is not greasy at all, I also found it would moisturize my skin too, because I did experience some dryness there, and you do not need to use alot, so the bottle lasts a long time. I totally believe it is the extra strength benzoyl peroxide. The reason I say this is because the scrub has sylic acid in it (?spelling but you know what I mean) and after a week I was only applying the lotion at night before bed and it still kept the bumps and little pimples and rough red skin away. Since I was a member of the pro-activ club I was able to buy just the step 3 clearing lotion, but if you do not want to invest in the whole pro-activ kit (but you can find it now for $19.99) You can probably buy just the step 3 clearing lotion on e-bay. I find that sylic acid (?spelling, again) does not work for me at all. Now when I rub my hands up and down my upper arms I don't feel those yucky bumps anymore my skin is smooth and soft, BUT I did stop using it at one time for a few days because I went away and forgot the bottle at home and the KP came right back, so you have to be dedicated and make sure you apply it every night. Since I am new here I don't know if this has been suggested before. Also I want to say I am in no way connected to the Pro-Activ company in anyway, otherwise I would be able to spell sylic acid LOL!! Good Luck, Kerri |

I'm very glad that you found something that works
. I've read a lot about people's success with exfoliant acids. I just purchased a 4oz tube of 2.5% benzoyl peroxide for $8.50 (excluding shipping and handling). What concentration was your benzoyl peroxide? |

Hi the pro-activ clearing lotion that I use is extra-strength and it has 7% benzoyl peroxide, so you can see why it works so well, and totally worth it. I like the way it feels when I put it on my upper arms. I can really feel it working, when it hits my skin I feel a tingle like sting it does not hurt, it kinda feels good, like someone is scratching my arms, it really is great and I know it is working.
I hope the tube of benzoyl works for you because this is such a pain in the ass problem that we must endure. Good Luck, Kerri |

2 other ideas
I started a routine of using Neutrogina Body Clear bobywash. Its a 2% salicylic acid. And using a loufa 3-5 days a week with the body wash. And then using the Neutrogina Body Oil (generics work well too). And making sure to keep it very moisturized. I've found the The Healing Garden Organics Olive and Aloe as well as a Cocoa butter lotion are very helpful.
I've seen incredible results! ![]() As for scarring... Any one tried Neosporin Scar Solution or any other suggestions? |

Hi Kerri. Did proactiv get rid of the redness for you, too?
