It's not the same thing as KP. My husband gets them and my OB/GYN told me that they're VERY common. I don't know that you can do anything about them, though... I'd be interested to see if anyone has been successful in clearing them up.

I have some too... I dont find them disgusting though... And have done nothing to try to remove them. So guess I am not that much of a help, sry

Yeah, it's not KP, it's normal. I learned that they usually appear right before your period. They don't bother me at all.

There are bumps on the areola called "montgomery glands"--is that what you're asking about?

Re: problem with bumps on the nipple?
Are you talking about Montgomery's glands ON the areola?
"The areola also houses the Montgomery glands, which act as tiny muscles that contract and widen to help get the milk out. The Montgomery glands also produce oils that lubricate your nipple and discourage the growth of bacteria on the skin of the nipple and areola during lactation. The Montgomery glands enlarge during pregnancy, giving your areola that knobby appearance. Mine are still kind of big bumps and I was last pregnant over a year ago. However, I DO get an ingrown hair occasionally around the outside edge of my areola. In fact I have a bit of a problem with one where there was a big keratin plug in it. As I started the things I learned here to help treat my KP it worked its way out. I used a _small_ dab of amlactin on it as it got near the surface to help speed it along. That was months ago. recently the same spot was having trouble and I checked it out and a hari was growing sideways through the skin right there. Like, the hair had no distinct pathway to come out any more. so, I've been dabbing toner on it that has salicylic acid (willow) in it. Usually they are not so big and complicated though, just a bit of the usual KP. - bd |
