Hi~
I just discovered this site while trying to find more information on my condition, which I've had as long as I can remember. I am interested in this coconut oil thing. I would really like to try it if it is worth it. I did see a dermatolagist about 5 years ago, and he gave me a prescription that he said would help with the bumps, but never make the redness go away. Needless to say, I did not have the faith to even finish it because the redness is the worst part of KP in my mind. The bumps seem to get better or worse depending on different things... |

coconut oil may be what you need on top of the other medication because in my case most of the redness is caused by irritations, and the medication may help KP, you may still need another moisturizer to help strengthen your skin again.

Hi,
I'm new here. I like this site and I've learned quite a bit about KP. I've had it most of my life, and nothing seemed to work until I tried coconut oil. I've been using coconut oil for my KP, as a foot moisturizer, and as a pre-treatment before I put on my facial moisturizer. I've had great luck with it, and I been using it for about 8 months. I use it as a pre-treatment because most,if not all, moisturizers will irritate my very sensitive facial skin. But putting the coconut oil on before acts as a buffer between my skin and the moisturizer, thus, minimizing the irritation. It does help my KP, if I don't put it on, I definitely notice a difference. My skin will become more red and it will sting a bit, if I don't use the oil. I hope this helps. |

I've only used the coconut oil (extra-virgin) for a week but I think it's working: the KP that started after my son was born is almost gone, the KP I've had almost my entire life is starting to go through the stages described by others (smaller, more *****ly bumps). I'm really excited about it. Okay, I'm still pretty red but it's only really bad when I'm hot. I hope in time that will fade, too, as picking decreases.
