Sorry I'm being a little stupid here but is this the correct process:

1: shower
2: dry
3: apply coconut oil?

PS - is oil as effective as coconut butter?

question..

How many times a day do you use coconut oil...just when you wake up or before you go to bed too?

You can apply extra virgin coconut oil as often as you need to, although the general rule seems to be 1 - 2 times daily. It works best if applied after washing, while the skin is still moist. This way the moisture is locked into the skin, and helps with the hydration of the keratin 'plugs' of kp.

P.S. It's spelled coconut oil, and it is different from cocoa butter, which comes from a different plant and has a different fatty acid profile.

Cheers!

I bought the EVCO yesterday and it is not in liquid form, but solid that looks kind of like wax. Is that the right stuff?

Yeah, at room temp or cooler it looks opaque, white, and solid, kindof like wax. It will liquify as soon as you rub it on your body because of your warm temperature.

I like to apply it after the shower, while still damp. Then afterwards I gently towel dry off so I still feel moisturized, but not like I have a greasy layer of stuff on me and to minimize coconut grease or odor on my clothing.

You can't get it at places like cvs. If you have a natural health store, they should have it or be able to order it for you. The regular grocery store may carry coconut oil, but may not have the extra virgin organic kind, which is the type we should be using based on what I have read due to how it is refined and the type of coconuts used (plus it is more expensive). The GNC store where I live has it. Or you can get it online.

I've been using fractionated coconut oil with good results . It sprays on nice and light and isn't too pricy

I couldn't get past the heavy feeling the extra virgin left on my skin and it broke my arms out . (my worst kp is there) So I tried the fractionated spray and it seems to be clearing . I've been at it about 2 weeks now and the dots are fading and the redness seems less

Hi Abbeylynn - I have NoDak relatives! MiracleMart's naturals section in minot may have a brand of EVCO. CashWise in bismarck has it (Spectrum Naturals) and perhaps at Coborn's if you're in the Red River Valley area. The GNCs at malls might have it but I'd call first. If you had to mail order, both netgrocer.com and vitacost.com have it. - bd

Re: 100% Extra Virgin Coconut Oil

I've been using EVCO that I found at a small local health food store, and it's AWESOME! I've had this condition for as long as I can remember, and have tried various different remedies since middle school. This is the first one that's worked! The bumps are still there, but they are no longer red and much much much smaller. I don't think anyone would notice the condition if I didn't point it out. I keep the jar in the bathroom with me, so the steam and heat from the shower softens it and makes it easy to put on afterwards.
