Hi everyone...I'm a new member...23yr.s old...confused & frustrated with KP! KP runs in my family(2 of my sisters have it) for the longest time every dermatologist I went to gave me a different diagnosis..finally after researching myself I found the answer..KP! But i'm so confused,I've tried so many treatments and everywhere I look there's something new..carmol,AmLactin,Epilyt,retin-A? Which am I supposed to use? should I be using different lotions at once..what combinations are the most effective?
I know microderabrasion is expensive but I'm thinking of doing it to smooth out my skin and then continuing with lotions. My problem is my KP is mainly on my legs...my thighs and outer calfs...it's effected me so much in my life and relationships, I can't wear short skirts or dresses,I'm too embaressed to wear swimsuits...I try covering it with body make-up my boyfriend was always asking me to wear short skirts...thank god candelights and dim-lighting are romantic it's been my answer to avoiding the akward discussion of "what is that?" "what are those bumps?"i'm so glad i've found this site...it's terrible when no one understands what your going through..I'd appreciate any and all help |

Hello
I too have the same problem as you, and i am in a 7 year relationship about to get married in November. my fiance has never asked me about it or even noticed it. I think he thinks its just shaving razor bumps, because he has bumps on his beard from shaving. he doesnt really seem to care, and nobody has ever noticed mine or asked me about it. I have darker skin, my father is Iranian and mother is hispanic. the redness shows, and the bumps are on my arms, outer calves, thighs and butt. recently, i bought glytone from www.skincarerx.com and KP Duty from www.nordstrom.com. they seem to work OK. but i think its only because im getting regular hydration. I just bought sulphur soap online but havent got it yet. I use St. Ives Invigorating Apricot facial scrub on my KP and scrub with a loofah and use the Glytone body wash, then i use the lotions. the bumps have gone a little, but not completely. the redness is still there. i wouldnt worry too much about it, people dont seem to notice it most of the time, and i am wearing a skirt as im typing this, and short sleeves. |

After my son was born, KP blew up on my calves. So whenever I shaved my legs (carefully!) I would use the St Ives Apricot scrub with Salicylic acid as the exfoliant right after shaving. It helped tremendously.
Good luck! |
