I hate the redness
Hi, I'm new here and I want to introduce myself: I'm from Belgium (yes, that small country in Europe
), a 23 year old girl facing KP since I was 6 years old or so... I have KP all over my body: my entire legs and arms, plus my face. I especially suffer from the red dots, because my skin is very white, the redness looks very bad. I only have the roughness on my upperarms, nowhere else. That's maybe a positive thing, but I really am desperately looking for something that may help improve the redness. There are so many products to soften the skin, but until now I haven't found anything for the redness, except tanning and make-up to cover it up, but that's no solution. They just get less visible. I only use natural products. Because from experience I know that some products may worsen our skin condition, with all sorts of chemical waste. I have read several articles about paraffin, that our skin can get addicted to it... I don't mean to scare you, but be aware of the ingredients! I am desperate, especially because the summer is approaching... Can anyone help me??? |

Yeah, the redness is a big problem for me, too. It's not so bad on my arms, but it's really obvious on my legs, especially my thighs. My skin is pretty much smooth, but the redness is still there.

For me, the redness is really the only problem. Getting rid of bumps is fairly easy for me, its the freakin red dots that just won't go away, however they have faded over the years but not nearly fast enough for me.

Hey, I didn't expect any messages any more, but it's nice to hear from you!!! I am all covered up with those bumps: arms, forearms, legs all the way down and face
. And the redness is my biggest problem. I have the roughness too, but that I can controll. And yes, the red dots on the forearms is very stressfull, because everyone can see it! I can never wear short things, and right now it is (here in Belgium) 25 degrees. Really frustrating!!! I tan, because I'm very white and that's part of my solution, but I know these dots are there and they don't disappear, they fade a little... Today I bought the coconut oil (red it somewhere on this forum), we will see what it brings?! I think I'm gonna 'eat' it as well, because it seems to be good for a lot of things! Right now, I'm using tea tree oil, and it gives a bit relief for the redness. After the shower, I put it on my arms (pure, but I make my hands a little wet) and it helps for me. But I don't use it on my legs, it gets too expensive!!! Maybe worth a try! I will post more things if I know more about the cocunut oil! In the mean time, any solutions are more than welcome!!! (Sorry for my English, but it's not easy to think and write in another language ). Grtz |

Did you read the other posts in the last few days about sweating it out/flushing the pores? The pores are built up or plugged with the keratonin and people who exercise a lot or use a sauna frequently have been having luck clearing those pores. I have had good luck eliminating the bumps, as well, but I'm going to go to my club's sauna a few times a week and I'll keep you 'posted' about how that works.

Yes, I've read that sauna also can help. I recently have done one, and my skin felt very soft, but that lasted only 1 day. I think it is a good method, but you should do it frequently, I guess... So if you have good results, you must let me know about it! There is only one problem: I am too shy to do a plublic sauna (yes, I hate it when people see my skin) a

Oeps, I did something wrong I think, but here is the rest of my message: So I was saying that I am too shy to do a public sauna and a private sauna is a costly joke for me. So I don't know if I can do it on a regular base. But it is worth a try! Let me know about it!

tambo's right, i find that when i sweat it actually looks better. The red dots from what i gather are basically residual inflammation within the hair follicle and the best way to treat it is to bring it to the surface with a form of aha/bha acid and moisturize. The best moisturizer i've found that works great is 100% emu oil which i apply nightly and especially after my weekly glycolic acid peel which i just finished with the 50% and just starting on the 60% which i get from platinumskincare.com.

I used for the last couple of days the eucalyptus essential oil on a moist cotton pad and I rub it over my arms after the shower, and it seems to work! But I really want to try the eucalyptus spearmint lotion, but I can't find it here! Is there anyone who is going to travel to Belgium soon ;-)

my parents have sauna and i tried it once (only for half an hour i couldn't take it) and it had no effect. exercise definatly helps with the bumps. i know a guy who told me he has kp, but i've seen him naked and didn't see any at all, but he exercises a lot, so i'm going to assume that's why it's gone. by the way, the sauna thing was very cheap. under $300. it's just a tent with a thing that pumps steam and chinese medicine into it lol but it works
