Does it help with the roughness? THe spots on my skin aren't very obvious but the roughness is just really disgusting. I haven't worn a skirt for years...

littlelilly,
I spent years trying to keep my husband from seeing my bum or touching it! I can really relate. I thought I was a freak.
I don't know what products work for you, but I solved my problem with amalactin/rentin A and some serious exfoliating..just be diligent and patient. amalactin will at least make it smooth but it might not fix the red spots...

I have that too. I once read how someone got rid of it by applying baby oil twice a day. So I'm trying that.. it seems to help. Also, it's way better since I stopped scrubbing it like crazy in the bath. Now I just use soap/wash and rinse. I put lots of moisturizer/oil and massage it in.
I'll let you know if it goes away completely.

Thumbs up

I have it on my buttocks, arms and legs. The bumps are red and go blue & purple when I'm cold(which is all the time because I live in Ireland) and are very rough to touch.

I use body scrub before I shower, Rubbing it in circular motions. In the shower I only use Aqueous cream BP(you can buy it in any chemist and its very cheap), it contains no soap. Afterwards I use 'The Body Shop Mango cream for very dry skin' and then a generous amount of 'Nivea body sculpting lotion' just on my buttocks. The spots are still noticable but less so and it feels so much softer.

As for being embarrased in front of your boyfriend, don't be! Men love when you trot around in the buff spots or no spots! If he loves you he'll think you're beautiful anyway

I have felt the same way!! But one thing that has made mu bum feel nice and smooth, unfortunately not the other areas that I have KP, but it did work on my butt is using a body brush daily. It helps with the tone and texture of skin. But you need to find one that is natural (made with cactus) The one I have is from Elemis (timetospa.com) I think it is $44, but it will last your lifetime if you take care of it. DON"T get it wet!! Use it dry and spray it with tea tree spray to sanitize it a couple of times a week.
Hope this helps!!

GOOP! Don't use baby oil anymore!!!

Please. Hear me out. Baby oil is mineral oil. Mineral oil is derived from refining black crude oil. The people who work in these refineries have to dress in full hazmat gear all day, and some still end up with major health problems. The reason? Mineral oil is listed with the World Health Organization as a known carcinogen . AND it's in 98% of the cosmetics and toiletries in the USA. Sometimes it's called petroleum, petrolatum, petro-anything, or stearic acid. Check labels. I also was told by my dermatologist to try baby oil. I did for 6 days and the KP erupted like little arm volcanoes. This may not have happened to you but, please, try to use plant essential oils like eucalyptus, or Awaken Sea Salt Scrub with lemon oil, sweet almond oil, and rose oil.

Here's a little experiment for you. Get 2 glasses and 2 saltine crackers. Put baby oil in one glass and water in the other. Now drop a cracker into each glass and wait 5 minutes or so. The water cracker has gotten soggy, no? The oil cracker is still crisp. The reason is that the mineral oil molecules are too big to be absorbed by the cracker (which is very porous) and, as you can imagine, too big to be absorbed by our skin's pores. So, it just sits on top of your skin, like soap scum, and traps in the toxins and impurities. Additionally, it tricks your skin into thinking it's hydrated, so your own sebacious glands slow production and you actually end up with dryer skin than you started with.

I know it's a lot to take in, but I've made it a mission to educate as many people as possible to the baby oil myth since I made the misstep myself.
