Re: for those who've been pregnant
I had a very mild form of KP develop in my mid 20's. I am now 34. I had my 2nd son in Novmber 2007 and my KP got soooooo much worse within weeks of delivery. I just tried a prescription of Lac-Hydrin Cream (Ammonium lactate) 12%. I used it one time and I had an adverse reaction. It gave me heart arrhythmia and dizziness within one minute of the application (DON'T USE IT!) I am now totally paranoid to take another prescription!!!! My KP went from very mild on my upper arms to now on my ass, thighs and lower arms! Some one told me vassline but that doen't make sense to me to clog the pores? Any over-the-counter recomendations ladies?????

Re: for those who've been pregnant
You could try coconut oil, applied very lightly after a shower when your skin is still damp. It might be best to try it on one area to see if it helps. Also, take omega 3 supplements and eat foods high in omega 3 -- salmon, tinned sardines, ground flax seeds, and walnuts.
Some pharmaceuticals are too harsh and have adverse reactions. I prefer natural remedies myself. I hope you find something that helps you. Please let us know if you do. |

Re: for those who've been pregnant
When I was a teenager, I would get bumps on my thighs that would look like pimples and then started getting them on my chest. Once I had kids it spread to the backs of my arms and is slowing showing up on my forearms. I pretty much have it all over now but it is worst on my chest and arms. It gets better when I'm in the sun and if I remember to use the AmLactin regularly. It rains a lot where I live, so it only bothers me in the summer.

Re: for those who've been pregnant
My KP didn't change at all when I was pregnant or afterwards, even now nearly 3 years after having my daughter it's still no worse / better then it was, I'm very lucky that it didn't get worse. One thing I did notice is that my body hair hardly grew! Before I had my daughter my legs would need shaving every 3rd day to keep them smooth, whilst pregnant I did it every 2 / 3 weeks and even now I can get away with a week before they start to feel stubbly.

Re: for those who've been pregnant
I forgot to mention that when I switched from horomonal birth control to an IUD...it got considerably better, but never went away entirely.

Re: for those who've been pregnant
My baby is now 5 months old. I posted on here before that torwards the end of my pregancies I got a real bad case of keratosis everywhere. In 5 months nothing I have tried has worked. Some seemed like they were starting to work but then no progress. I bought an acne pill for my acne and to my amazement it took away half of my bumbs and most of the rest are smaller and less red and its only been 4 days. I take the 8 pills a day dose for faster results. Its all natural with no sie effects except good skin. Unless your allergic to any of the ingredients which the site explains all of them. Its a miracle. Its called Acneticin ( Acneticin ) .

Re: for those who've been pregnant
I am 30 years old and just gave birth to my first baby. Ive had KP for as long as I can remember. During my pregnancy it completely went away. About a week after I gave birth it's come back worse than ever. I think that hormones must play a large role in this.

Re: for those who've been pregnant
OH MY!!! I have had KP since I can remember and I feel mine has progressively gotten worse with age each year (just turned 30). I had my first baby this January and it is a lot worse now than it ever has been before. I now have it all over my legs down to my ankles. It hasn't gotten any better. It has stayed at that condition since having him and it's even summertime!!! I just want to shave my skin off!!

Re: for those who've been pregnant
I have a 2 month old. - my kp didn't get any worse, or better. i have it on the back of my upper arms, and the tops of my lower arms. It isn't very noticeable, but i can't stop picking at the bumps- so that's what makes my arms look bad.

Re: for those who've been pregnant
Didn't have - or at least didn't know I had - kp before first pregnancy. Now have it on arms and legs.
