embarrassing question...bumps on the booty

I have tried everything (Neutrogena medicated body wash, scrubs, etc) but I still have bumps on my backside...some of the bumps get really irritated (I notice they seem to get worse when it's warm etc--which makes sense).

I also work out and I'm wondering if the perspiration makes it worse (I try to wear cotton panties etc)

Does anyone else have this problem in this area? Any suggestions? treatments? It's really embarrassing I've tried everything and nothing seems to work.

Thanks.

Madness...do you mean like a clearasil or neutrogena type scrub or something more heavy duty? I have used Neutrogena scrubs but sometimes it irritates my skin back there.

Do you have a specific type of product that you recommend?

actually the thing i use i think it's called benzoyl peroxide wash. You might need a prescription, but maybe they have a more generic version of it.

do you mean like clearasil or cetaphil? I've used Neutrogena medicated scrub but sometimes it makes it work...I wonder if I need to stay away from salycic acid products?

do you recommend a certain product?

actually ive heard that cotton can make it worse, because it absorbs sweat and holds it against the skin... you might want to invest in a few pairs of those panties they sell in sports stores, the ones that are made for athletics.. im pretty sure those hold the sweat away from your skin, and that might help with the irritation. just a thought!

I have this problem too

You're not alone. I have KP bad there, much more red and inflamed with acne-type spots. It starts on the back of my thighs and leads up to my buttocks. I'd try anything to help it. Mostly I'm really confused about what to do. Its horrible and embarassing.

I would go to a dermatologist to make sure it is KP and not some type of acne. It is important to determine which it is--someone suggested benzoyl peroxide (BP) as a possible treatment. BP is for acne. It actually has antibiotic properties so it acts by clearing out the bacteria in the acne. KP doesn't result from bacteria infections so you can actually do more harm by using it without need.

Try sulfur soap with 3% salicylic acid available at pharmacy. It can help with the KP, but it smells like rotten eggs, so have a nice sweet smelling moisturizer ready. Also, Loreal makes a really great body exfoliation gel. It's green and really gritty, the beads are like sand...it comes in a tub. I'll try to get the name for you.

I recently developed bumps on my booty and I have to tell you it was horrifying. I was finally diagnosed and now am using Amlactin 12% moisturizing cream. It is helping somewhat, but I still get outbreaks. I have worked out my whole life and never had these bumps until recently, so I don't correlate them to sweat. I do however seem to have more outbreaks when I eat too much sugar and if I have any caffein. Maybe it's just my imagination....

I was a lifeguard for 6 yrs. and had them each year from sitting in a wet swimsuit that's all tight against your rump (not to mention hardly as glamorous as the Baywatch swimsuits!). I'm convinced that it was KP that I just hadn't associated w/the bumps on my arms yet. It would get better once I wasn't sitting around in a wet/tight swimsuit - I always tried to make sure to keep my bum as dry as possible and really dry off after a swim. Hard to do when you're sweating in 98 degree weather and high humidity in KY, but I tried.

So, I agree...get some of those runner's undies that dry fast and wick moisture. I think that could seriously help. Also, don't sit around in your sweaty workout gear for long afterward. I used to come back after lunch at the gym and eat lunch and work at my desk in sweaty clothes while I cooled-off. RESIST doing that. Yuck. The bumps came back. Just shower/change and ditch the wet garments.

Hi - Try Eucerin Dry Skin Therapy Plus Intensive Repair Lotion. This stuff has alpha hydroxy in it and is outstanding. It has eliminated the same problem for me. You can buy this at Target in the skin lotion section. Interestingly enough, my arms were not improved by this lotion at all. Now, the goal is to get rid of the bumps on my arms!

Good luck...
