Newbie Question about lotions...

I love this site! After suffering in silence for over a decade, my bumps finally get a name!

I was pushed to search for an answer to my skin woes after a rather mean comment made tonight by my husband, who for the first time in 10 yrs. noticed my bumps in bright lighting & said ("well, maybe you should shower more!) Right-- like somehow my daily shower somehow isn't doing the job, right??

Anyway, without even knowing about my condition I've found that not only do alpha-hydroxy lotions help me, but using thick lotions or ones w/out AHA actually make me have more bumps (like on bottom of arms, which are usually bump-free on me.)

Has anyone found that some products exacerbate their KP?

Well don't shower more! Showering acutally dries out your skin. Hot water is worse than warm or cold water. Tell your husband it is genetic---it can't be cured but it can be managed.

Yes, I have found certain products seem to exacerbate it. Some that have eliminated it are:

Vaseline Healthy Body Complexion lotion, after using it 2x/day for 3 wks, it was about 90% gone, and my skin felt smooth so I had nothing to pick at.

Bath and body works eucalyptus spearmint body lotion after using it 1x/day for about a week, I noticed my bumps were "fading fast," and after several weeks, it's now over 95% gone.

For this winter I have been adding a dab of the Johnson’s baby oil gel Chamomile & Multi-Vitamin Complex to boost moisture in my skin. This isn't exacerbating it, though.
