I'm 17 and I've had KP since 8th grade. I didn't know it was KP until two years ago...I used to hate wearing short sleeves, but now I do...I'm still afraid to wear skirts and shorts...I love shorts soo much but...

I'm 16 and I just found out 2 days ago what I have. I'm so excited to know that it isn't going to be that way forever and that there is something I can do to help treat it. It's cool to know other people have KP. I live in Nebraska so we have winter. Thank goodness. I'm not too obsessive about it. I just always thought I had bumpy skin. I wonder if knowing I have KP will change anything. I've had it for as long as I can remember. Earliest is 6th grade. That's when I started picking. I don't mind wearing short sleeves or tank tops. It doesn't bother me and it shouldn't matter what other people think. All that matters is what you think. Think positive. (Thinking positive is new to me, like a new years resolution or something.)

Hey everyone, I have not been on in forever. I have not done much of anything about my KP lately. Just things anyone might do to keep their skin healthy. As trying all the many different things didn't seem to help much anyways.Im concentrating on allot of other things right now. Just turned 17 & have allot of things on my plate. It still bothers me sometimes but I just try not to let it bother me to much. Im also focusing more on getting healthy & in better shape. I was sick for a while got better but then I had a relaspe didn't get much exercise or anything. So Im just hoping a better lifestyle might help my skin as well My advice to anyone reading this, try not to concentrate to much on it. Life is to short.Im not trying to play down KP or say its not that bad or that you shouldn't try to treat it, but I have allot of things to worry about my health, torn family & more and KP just doesn't seem like the end of the world when other things could kill me or hold me back in life physically or mentally. I know sometimes KP can feel like its holding you back, especially in social situations but things could be much worse.Im sure you all already know this but maybe it will help someone.

Your sister in KP ( lol ) ,
~Vixie

Hey,
i've had the condition for 3 years. Mine isn't as serious as most people (only on upper arms and not very consentrated) but i still know what hiding your body all day is like. I've found alot of things that are suposed to help so i'm gonna list them all out for evryone
Vitamin A
Cool showers instead of hot ones or baths
Dry-skin brush
Omega 3 oils or other fatty acids
lactic acid and alpha hydroxy acids are great for peeling dead skin
moisturise alotand use mild soaps
Anything else that is exfoliating (normaly they have gritty beads in them) is usefull

Good luck x

I'm new to this "KP Community". I'm 16, turning 17 soon. I have been suffering from mild KP on my outer arms only, since I was 13 years old. Now that the summer season has arrived, I want to wear tank tops or short sleeved shirts, but it's really embarassing for other people to see my arms. I heard that applying Vaseline would help KP disappear. Are there any other proven methods that will help lessen the appearance of KP?

Thanks Dave, but I don't have any red spots. They look more of a brownish color. I also don't want to get a tan.
