panic panic and more panic

I am 18 years old and I just found out I have kurtosis pilaris before today I did not know what that was...I’ve always had really nice skin but over the years these bumps spots (oh I don't know what to call them because I’m still learning about this) have spread almost all over my body. I looked at my skin an have been so embarrassed to go to a doctor about it...I went today to get a referral for a dermatologist and found out I had it and let me tell you I was some what relieved to know I am not the only one with this but at the same time I felt a loss of hope as he says he's not sure it can be cured. I have not tried anything on my skin other than normal lotion so I was wondering if anyone could give me any ideas on what I can use on my skin. I feel as depressed as its summer and I want to wear shorts or Capri’s but I feel way too self conscious to do so. over the years I have started to cover up. Also is there some sort of trigger that aggravates your skin? I just want to find something to make it stop as I can see its spreading and I feel so helpless an depressed. I am so relieved though that I looked this up and there is a site like this everyone seems so supportive of each other and there seems to be a lot of information so I will definitely check it out. Well everyone have a nice day an I hope someone can help me

My advice is wear what you want and try not to obsess over it. I always would where shorts and tanks when I was younger (ignorance is bliss) but since I found out what these bumps were....there began my problem.

Your young, have fun---don't worry about what to wear --I've found people only notice when you make a big deal.
So I hope you can take comfort and enjoy your summer--emerse yourself in other activities --and let this be a reason to pamper your skin.

Scrub the bumps in the shower regularly.. use sugar on yr hands.. non-rritating. And use cocoa butter as a mosturizer.
