Unhappy major KP breakout!!

I have having a time right now! I had a baby four months ago and now my hair is falling out and my KP is exploding! I am so glad I found this group yesterday! I have gather some great info and I am going to try some ideas to help thing this under control. I am kinda lucky, I am a red head and have tons of freckles on my arms and legs that hide the KP pretty well, but it's bothering the heck out of me right now!

sorry to hear about your bad experiences

as for the hair loss...a lot of women seem to lose a lot of hair after they give birth. but don't worry. the reason you're losing a lot of hair is b/c you didn't shed that much hair when you were pregnant, and your body is trying to "catch up" with what it didn't let go while you were an expecting mom.

i found this out after my girlfriend swore she was going bald b/c of her newborn son....

The same thing happened to me(I'm sure this board is sick of me telling this story). My KP exploded about 6 months after I had my Daughter and my hair is still falling out but this happens to all women (at least the ones who have had children). I only had a tiny bit of KP and for yrs. it only was on the backs of my arms and a very tiny bit above my knees. My arms are pretty much still the same but my legs were bad, the whole fronts and sides, from top to bottem. I wore pants and capri pants for 2 summers and it was awful, it gets so hot and sticky here. I have been using Sulfer Soap and stiff brush now for a year and it really has helped the most out of all of the products I have tried. I can now wear shorts and I feel good about my skin. I know I will have to do this Sulfer Soap thing forever because if I miss a day I find a few new bumps. Give the soap a try, it really did the trick for me. Kim

Are you taking a multivitamin everyday? That could help with the hair falling out.

dear mom of 2 boys,
this is the first time i have ever posted. i have only used the website for ideas for my kp. i am 42 yrs old and had my third child at 40. the same exact thing happened to me. it is normal for your hair to fall out. i thought i was going bald. it will stop and things will return to normal. the same thing happened with my kp. i am prone to picking so my arms and legs look like a battle zone. I have always had trouble with kp (since teens) but nothing compared to after having this child. i noticed that my skin was slightly oilier than usual and the kp looked more like acne in areas. on a hunch, i started taking tetracycline and sure enough, certain areas started to clear. i truly believe that our hormones are raging after a baby and the extra breakouts are partly acne. i also just started using sulphur soap. i think it will help but it is difficult to tell yet coz of all of the picking scars. if i ever get this under control, i'll have all of the brown scars to deal with. my nephew is on a topical cream called differin. it is for acne but it is known to cause the pores on the skin to unclog, whatever the cause. i have ordered it and hope to receive it soon. i think i could be the poster child for kp. i've tried every cream, lotion etc. 99.9% of my problem is picking. i hope you luck in anything you try!

Hi Mom2boys,
I had this same experience with my kp, and also my hair, after having my last 2 children. I freaked out after baby #3, it was coming out in handfuls when I would run my fingers through my hair. Ugh, it was awful. I hated to even brush it.

Truly, I believe that kp acts up when our hormones are out of wack, especially for us women! It will eventually get better though. Best of luck, and best wishes,
Molsmom
