best makeup

Hello,

I have had redness right above and around my eyebrows for the past 15 years (I'm currently 24) and am experiencing hair loss on the outer third. My derm. diagnosed me with kp...he was not familiar with uo.

I have tried many products without success. For those of you who use makeup, which products (foundation, etc.) do you find most effective in camoflauging the redness?

Re: best makeup

Hi Lisa

I have UO also and am 46 so I have had many years of applying different makeups.

I have found 'Sheer Cover' by far the best for covering redness and leaving the skin looking natural. In NZ it is only available through mail order. It was develop by dermatologists for those with scars and birth marks to hide.

It comes with a concealer which hides the redness. The makeup itself it a mineral powder which also gives good coverage but is light and natural looking.

I am not sure where you live. I have some American free phone numbers on the packaging I have so let me know if these would be of help.

Re: best makeup

Hi

On the back of the makeup it has written:

Distributed by Guthy-Renker

800 506 6281
Palm Desert
CA 92260

Made in USA

Sheer Cover®

A couple of other things that may be helpful for your UO are:

1) My eyebrows often get itchy and flare up (especially in winter). I have found that a product contain EVCO (extra virgin coconut oil) helps calm them down.

I get mine from a pharmacist in NZ but you can possibly buy something similiar in USA. The pharmacist posts under the name of ANNUU on this site. His web address is:

Koru Pharmaceuticals - ---Koru kp---Oleum

(I also used this product on my 12 year old who starting showing signs of UO - it also helped calm the redness down for him however his symptoms have since abated so I really can't be 100% sure if it was actually UO or not)

2) The other thing that has helped the redness is PDL (Pulse dye laser) treatment. A bit more radical but may be helpful if redness is really bad.

Re: best makeup

Palladio has a rice and mineral powder/foundation that covers a lot and also it is very good for your skin. It covers so nice that some makeup artists use it for photoshoots (brides and models).

Product Description
The best powder made for the makeup artist and the sophisticate. Use Wet for maximum, all day coverage, and Dry for a flawless light cover. Alpha-Hydroxy Fruit Acids help eliminate fine lines. Hyaluronic acids provide elasticity to skin, and Zinc Oxide...

One month ago I began to use the Herbal wet & dry foundation and it's great. They are not so expensive either. Well, here at Amazon.com is around $14, but luckily I find it here in Puerto Rico at $10.00

Palladio at Amazon.com. You can also search for this products via Google.com or Yahoo.com

Re: best makeup

hi, i also have KPUO and I use eucerin 10% Urea lotion on my skin twice a day. Concerning makeup - I just put on concealer (boots natural collection at the moment but any works) and then some (not much at all) good quality powder and no one can even tell that i have the condition at all!
I used to use foundation and powder but i found that as well as being more practical to use the concealer actually works much better and stays on for longer.
Hope this helped =)

Re: best makeup

I use Everyday Minerals makeup. They have a mint concealer which is great for covering redness. Also another concealer called Bisque, which is quite pink in colour but somehow manages to conceal redness too. These are used under mineral foundation. You can get free samples, though you have to pay a small amount for postage. https://www.everydayminerals.com/

I have to update this info!!! Palladio is NOTHING compared to bareminerals from bare escentuals. The only thing that I have to say is that they have poor customer service and organization.

This makeup will cover redness in a very natural way. You can even cover redness in the back of the arms. It looks like if you have no makeup on. :

I am ignorant about UO, BUT this makeup is great for my ensitive skin. I bought it at Sally Beauty Supply in the U.S. after hearing about it from Elsa Zoe. I think that its mildness by being talc and rice may have something to do with it and I have found that titanium dioxide makes all my KP worse, whether on my face or arms (suncreen) or what. It even has chamomile that I suspect is an allergen for me but maybe it's so little or it's tempered by other ingredients. even have used it on my arms and legs when needed. - bd
