Been diagnosed with UO

Hi, i'm a newbie, and i have been diagnosed with UO. I was certain i had seb derm and rosacea on my forehead by derm says its UO for sure. I have had NO problems with my eyebrows at all, which makes me wonder if it is UO. Do most people with this have eyebrow problems??

Anyway, this is a great site.

Thanks Keratosis Pilaris Head

Re: Been diagnosed with UO

Yes! - from the brief amount you have shared it doesn't sound like UO.

The words Ulerythema Ophryogenes mean:

Ul - scarring
erythema - redness
Ophryo - of the eyebrows
Genes - genetic (I guess)

If you don't have redness and or hair loss on the outer third of your eyebrows you most likely don't have UO.

I have UO (often starts in teens but can sometimes occur in childhood or adult life). It starts with red KP bumps on the outer third of your eyebrows. This eventually leads to hair loss in this area.

If I were you I would get a second opinion. It may well be you have red KP bumps on your forehead. I am bothered by bumps sometimes in the centre of my forehead going from the bridge of my nose up - so this is maybe what they are referring to

regards
Anne

PS: It is not unusual to get misdiagnosed and undiasnosed as UO is reasonably rare. Sometimes derms can use the term UO when they are referring to KPAF (keratosis pilaris atrophicans faciei). KPAF can be comprised of one or both of the following:
Ulerythema Ophryogenes (effecting the eyebrows) and/or Atrophoderma Vermiculata (effecting the top of the cheeks) however it doesn't sound like you have either of these.

Re: Been diagnosed with UO

Thanks for the reply Anne. I do have some bumps on my forehead, but i'm sure they are seb derm related spots not Keratosis Pilaris.

I feel much better now, as the thought of having UO and seb derm/rosacea is more than enough to cope with.

Cheers KP head (not no more LOL!!)
