One Cream that does help.
Hi,
I have suffered from this condition since I was 11yrs old; it runs in my family (one aunty and grandma have mild UO). I have tried heaps of topical creams, alternate therapies, laser etc. One cream which does temporarily remove the redness for me is Methylprednisolone 0.1% (Advantan cream). It is a topical corticosteroid and should not be used continuously. I have tried other topical corticosteroids (of course) but this one did work for me. The redness does come back but it is handy to use when needed. I am still looking for a cure (as everyone is, but it prob doesn’t exist). I have a career as a health professional and so am familiar with medical terminology and possible treatments, this is the best I have found so far (as well as a good foundation and eye brow pencil). It might be worth a try. I could tell after a week of applying it twice a day (also it doesnt smell, it isn't oily and it shouldnt get worse before it gets better). Good luck. |

you don't have uo then, uo is related to either just eyebrows or both eyebrows and cheeks, http://www.emedicine.com/derm/topic741.htm. do you have red eyebrows or lack of hair on the last 2 thirds of your eyebrows

i was previosuly diagnosed wiv rosascea but then went to a proper dermatologist and he diagnosed it as UO due to the fact that i have KP on the outer part of my upper arms. I have no problems wiv my eyebrows. I'm going to see a second dermatologist soon so maybe he will diagnose it as something else. Also thanks for the sun screen advice.

Joe--neutrogena 30 or 45 depending on where you are going has been the best for me(derm recommended), and I have the UO(eyebrows) and upper cheeks. My face will literally feel like it has "turn to stone" if I don't use lots of sunscreen and wear a hat when in hot sun for a longer period. I do take 5mg prednisone every other day, or I would be permanently flarred.Judy
