Have you discussed it with Dr Epstein? I sent them an email, telling him about my UO condition and a picture too. He got back to me right away and that very much surprised me! Send him a pic closeup of the brow region, and tell him your UO condition. I didn't have the money so the conversation really didn't get anywhere. If you are serious, he will probably want to talk to you on the phone and you can ask him all kinds of questions. If one person on this list gets this procedure done, and it works, I don't care how much it costs I'm going to get it done too (after saving the money or using a credit card). I'm so much in debt now, I can't take the chance without some good indications it will work, not just talk.

Talked to dr bisanga who is a leader in the hair transplant field, just opened his own clinic in brussels. Dr Bisanga and Phillip Bell asked several top surgeons and dermatologists in the US about the condition and surgery and reccommended that i didnt get the transplant untill the UO was innactive for 4 to 5 years as the success rate is believed to be a lot higher, which in my situation is not the case as i'm only 20. They didnt want to do the procedure as they didnt want me to get my hopes up and waste my money.

Re: Eyebrow Transplantion???

Thought I would try and update this post a bit. I am still really thinking of getting this procedure. Thought i would try and ask if anybody had undergone the surgery and what the results were.

Re: Eyebrow Transplantion???

Well i did it. I flew down to miami and met with Dr. Epstein. The whole thing took about 4 or 5 hours. I can't really remember i was asleep for about half the time, listening to my ipod. But man, i feel 100% satisfied with the whole procedure. The staff was great and completely professional. They made me feel at home from the moment i walked into the door.

It should take anywhere from 6-9 months for the new hairs to grow completely. I am really eager and excited, can't wait. I already feel like a different person.

If anybody is considering doing this i highly recommend Dr. Epstein.

Kirk

Re: Eyebrow Transplantion???

Well done!

You are the first person I have heard getting this done for UO. It will be great news to many sufferers if it provides some permanent hair growth.

I know above someone mentioned about hair loss if UO was still active. Did your Dr mention this.

I am just wondering if their is a best age or stage to get this done in the whole UO 'lifecylce'.

Wishing you all the best with your hair growth and thanks for posting about it. Let us know how you get on in the next few months.

Re: Eyebrow Transplantion???

Thanks!

I asked the doc about my situation and he didn't really know much about it.

They take hair grafts from my head and insert them into my eyebrow area following what would be my natural hair growth. Since there where not hairs in the outer portion of my eyebrows to begin with, nothing could grow. Now the hairs act like a seed and will begin to sprout in the new area they were "planted".

As far as what age would be best, I can't say. I would assume that wouldn't matter, so long as you have a heathly head of hair to pull from.

I'll keep the site posted with my updates of the next few months.

Re: Eyebrow Transplantion???

thanks! - this is groundbreaking stuff - I don't know of anywhere on the net where someone has documented having this done.

Like you I have UO and don't have any hair in the outer third but being female I have just penciled in the missing area all my life.

I have always felt for guys however who can't do this as easily. I have a son showing signs of UO so am really keen to know of any treatments to help this condition.

Thanks once again.

Re: Eyebrow Transplantion???

Thought I would post an update on my hair growth. It has been exactly 25 days since my procedure and I am already starting to see ALOT of hair growth. It really is amazing and I am very excited to see the final results. Its seems I am a little ahead of schedule because the doc said I would start to see the growth around 2-3 months. He recommended I use Rogaine 5% Minoxidil. I had been using that, but it seemed I am having an allergic reaction to the minoxidil. He said that can happen in rare occurrences. In which case I need to stop using it for a week and only apply it to the brow area once every other day, instead of everyday and night.

My reaction to the Rogaine has seemed to flair up my kprf to the point I have never ever seen before. It has never been so red and puffy over these last 5 days or so. It is just starting to calm down since I stopped using the rogaine. Normally when my kprf has a hot flash it will slowly calm down over an hour or two. But this time that hot flash has lasted for over 5 days. The texture of my cheeks has also changed to something very raw looking and feeling.
But I'm glad to say things are slowly looking better.

I would like to start using the rogaine again because it seems to be working. I am getting lots of little stubble poking through the skin, which i know is only a matter of time before they are longer strands. Overall I am very happy with my progress so far.

till nextime.

-K

Re: Eyebrow Transplantion???

age doesn't matter. I know I saw some example photos of before and after a procedure and one patient had to have been about 12 years old. Check out the website if your interested.
