Emu Oil
No success with 100% Emu Oil after 3 weeks...and the adventure continues...
I've been thinking...I believe the skin is red because the folicle is trying to punch out of the skin, but it is too clogged with excess keratin (Keratosis) thus irritating the skin and turning it red, so if there was a way to unclog those shafts/pores on a daily basis, we might see less redness from the constant hair struggling to get out, and more hair due to it actually being unclogged enough to break through. I routinely have to "pick" out some of the clogs myself, because they don't just fall off like normal dead skin...s****ing it's even hard to get the dead looking skin off the brow. I have to use a sharp pointed object to kind of pick it off. Someone on the site posted about using mineral bead in their bath and then the dead skin starting coming off almost in sheets. What if we try mineral oil dabbed on our brows? Does anyone know anything to use topically that will unclog hair follicles, or an anti-keratin solution?? Is this too simple? |

I use retin-a cream (prescribed by my derm) to help keep the odd bumps around my eyebrows at bay.
I have use this for the last couple of years and it has helped the overall texture and feel of the skin on my face. With retin-a you need to use a little and apply it once every other day at least until your skin can cope with it. Initially you will find your skin is irritated by it but that passess with time - it takes quite a few weeks however to notice any benefit so patience is essential. I have been doing a bit of research lately on 'Pubmed' and can't get away from the fact that Isotretinion (accutane) is used to treat a lot of these more inflammatory KP variants (ulerythema ophryogenes and KPAF included). If you want to do your own research google 'Pubmed' and then do a search on 'Keratosis Isotretinoin' or more specifically 'ulerythema oprhyogenes Isotretinoin'. Yes - I know it has possible side effects but like anything you have to way up the benefits with the possible risks. (even Aspirin has several possible side effects so side effects is obviously common with most drugs in varying degress) As mentioned before, my derm put me on Roaccutane at age 38 for a year at 40mg per day - but as my UO was past the inflammatory stage it made no difference. The only side affects I experienced was very dry lips. The side effect however that concerned me most at the time that I had to way up was the high risk of birth defects. In NZ Accutane is only available from a Derm so I am sure they would not prescribe it unless they thought there was some benefit and would explain any possible side effects with you. I guess I am the sort of person who doesn't want to just grasp at possible solutions but prefers to base treatment on research already done. Hope this is of help to someone. |
