Re: The Sea Buckthorn Treatment Guide

Hey Vanessa... so did IPL help your red/brown spots or no? i don't have the bumps at all, just the spots and if i am warm you can barely see them or if i just got done exercising there are gone too! are yours that way?

Re: The Sea Buckthorn Treatment Guide

Mine are the same way...I dont have a lot of bumps, just on my chest area for some reason and those are flesh colored. But as far as my arms and upper back, its just scars and I get one or two bumps here and there but nothing major. Usually right after I take a shower, you can really see them. IPL did help to lighten them but it didnt completely fade them. I had several treatments and I couldnt afford more. I think that unfortunately it just takes time to see them go away. The thing for me is that they are never gone because I get two here and there which leave spots behind and eventually I have a bunch of dots! Its a vicious cycle I hope to get out of soon!!

Re: The Sea Buckthorn Treatment Guide

Where do you get the Ayate washcloth from? I have had KP all my life - I will be 21 in two months. Recently it has started to spread down on my arms and on my thighs. I used to just have it just on the back of my arms , but now it has spread down my arms and on the front of my arms. It has also become more red in color - I hate wearing short sleeves. I am going to purchase the soap tomorrow and start with that. You stated that trying to soap for two weeks will let us know if we have the parasite correct? For only 5 bucks - its worth it!

Mine are exactly like that. They are darker in the center and they look like they are very deep in the skin. They are not bumpy, if you run your hands down my arms you do not feel any bumps. I feel the same way you do about products not being able to sink in that deep. I had tried so many things and thats what eventually led me to try laser. Ask away, thats what we are all here for!

Re: The Sea Buckthorn Treatment Guide

Hi - fairly new to site and after starting oil-pullling (another one who has given up with not being taken seriously by docs/derms) and using only coconut oil as a moisturiser everywhere apart from scalp at the moment! have had some degree of success in controlling and improving condition than i ever have before.

I am 33 now and before above statement was just getting worse and becoming depressed and putting on weight as didnt see the point in looking after myself until i came across this site and its advice.

I have also recently come across this demodex thing and have just read your informative and well written piece.

I am someone else who relates to your symptons list - and will definately try this routine to add to positives i have already experienced. Have just ordered some Sea Buckthorn bits and will post any helpful info. Thankyou. Cheers ears.

Red face Re: The Sea Buckthorn Treatment Guide

My son has had vast improvements! But I've used a few other things besides the seabuckthorn. My son is almost 2 and had a horrible break out and was diagonosed with KP.
After reading about the demodex mite and thinking he had something related to that, I thought perhaps I would try head and shoulders shampoo a few times. I put it on his skin in hopes it might kill the demodex mite (my husband's a wrestler and gets skin funk a lot, and head and shoulders kills a lot of stuff). I did this at bath time and then cleaned it off his skin. Anyway, I moisturized with coconut oil on his whole body twice a day as I waited for the seabuckthorn to come in. In combination to the above and the seabuckthorn, I started seeing fast results, and by two weeks, the inflammation on his arms and legs was gone. The red patches on his legs turned into try patches of healing skin and now they are cured. I continue to use the seabuckthorn soap and I use the oil as well, but I add it to lotion and/or coconut oil to make it go further when I apply it twice a day.
The last area to heal is his face. His grandma messed up our routine by applying cortisone cream twice! It chapped his thin healing skin and put his face on a setback. I have before and after pictures, it is a huge difference. In the last week he had a new red patch pop up on his forehead again, and I'm not sure why but I'm treating it. It almost looks like ringworm when the spots first show up.
I don't know if he had a demodex infestation, but I've seen improvements. Seabuckthorn helps with inflammation, so it could be that it treats his skin, I'm not sure. I also give him Seabuck7 mixed with his apple juice, it's a liquid concentrate of seabuckthorn pulp/juice.
I've tried the soaps and oil on my own skin/face. It is nice and softens my skin but I still break out when I'm close to my period. I am going to continue using it on both myself and my son.

Re: The Sea Buckthorn Treatment Guide

Hey,
I have similar experiences. As a child, I had no KP at all...it all started when I was around 14-15, about the time I started high school actually. I wonder if that means it is a different form of KP or what? I too am using the Seabuckthorn soap and lotion, and have been using it for about 2 weeks. So far, my KP has gotten a little irritated...kinda like it is on a bad day, red and bumpy. But from what I can tell, I haven't broken out really bad yet. In a way, I am hoping I do so that this treatment will work for me. I will continue to use it for a while and wait and see...best of luck to you!

Re: The Sea Buckthorn Treatment Guide

Hello, I'm French and I discovered this thread thanks to a French thread which trackbacked it (as you can see below hehe )
I have (I can nearly say had ) slight KP on my arms, legs and bottom. If that can be of use : I'm 18 and of Asian backgrounds (I noticed that many Asian people had the same symptoms as I do, so...), and to reply to Reginaaa : I also noticed that in the morning, I almost feel cured as I can see no bumps at all !! But during the day the KP reappears

I started my sea buckthorn treatment about 3 weeks ago, it consists of :

- Dr. Hauschka apricot and sea buckthorn shampoo daily (as regards this shampoo, I simply don't understand WHY people hate it so much You just have to shake it before use, then the texture is like a normal shampoo, plus the organic side : my hair is soft and shiny okay I'm not here to advertize Dr. Hauschka, but 12€ instead of 30€ for the Facedoctor shampoo is not nothing ! )

- alternation between the Weleda sea buckthorn oil, the Weleda sea buckthorn lotion and a virgin coconut oil daily (I personally buy a culinary oil because it is so much cheaper ! In France, tax on cosmetics are four times higher than tax on food)

- alternation between the Weleda sea buckthorn shower gel and a sea buckthorn soap daily (French brand Flore-Alpes)

- Weleda sea buckthorn juice daily (from far the most expensive investment : 8€ per week !)

- Coffee bean scrub twice a week, from coffee you drink - but I don't think it's an American thing to make coffee with bean powder in a filter, is it ? - or from the organic brand Themis (I read on various websites that coffee helped struggling against KP )

My KP decreased and did not break out (thanks to the coconut oil maybe ?), though like Sir Duckles, some parts are being stubborn (my arms argh )
It's only been 3 weeks though, and I have high expectations from this treatment (which are already lived up to).

If you have any questions on the treatment I follow or the products I mentioned, I'll be happy to answer

Well, for many reasons !
First, coconut oil softens and moisturizes the skin, and moisturizing the skin is the first step to cure KP
Second, coconut oil is anti-microbial (anti-bacterial and anti-viral) and therefore may help to reduce the KP breakout, getting rid of bacteria which may be the cause of the breakout.

Moreover, it's really cheap when you buy it as a culinary oil, and has a gorgeous scent (provided that you like the scent of coconut )
