Re: The Sea Buckthorn Treatment Guide

Hey everyone I'm new to the forums and I have to say all this information is very interesting. I've never even heard of sea buckthorne before but I was planning on trying oil pulling first and if that doesn't work I will definitley give this a try as well! I even went to a Wild Oats/Whole Foods Market today and was checking out their Alba Organics stuff but unfortunately they didn't have the soap or anything else... . Can this stuff only be ordered online? And sorry if this has been answered already but why does this Sea Buckthorn fruit in particular help KP more than others?

Re: The Sea Buckthorn Treatment Guide

The Sea Buckthorn, provided you have no allergy, will work regardless. You could mix it with warm water if you wanted.

It's funny, antibiotics, according to the CDC, are prescribed completely unnecessarily 60% of the time. And they are absolutely formidable, and can cause tremendous physiological damage.

If you want to talk about chronic inflammation, we should look at antibiotics. When good and bad bacteria are killed off, some of the bacteria enters the tissue and bloodstream. As a reaction, the body produces inflammation. Inflammation in your digestive system can create inflammation all throughout your body.

My friend, I have a very sick digestive system, and I also have the most inflamed and all consuming case of Keratosis Pilaris I've seen.

Why is it that some people produce inflammation and others do not? Alba and Rubra, both are fundamentally the same, only one does not become inflamed.

It has been said that toxins in the body create inflammation. That might give fuel to some of the theories about toxic overload causing the condition.

Cod liver oil, vitamin E, systemic enzymes, acidophilus, these are anti-inflammatories.

The Sea Buckthorn Hand & Body lotion that I use contains most notably; vitamins A, C, E, aswell as primrose oil and coconut fatty acid. Do you know what these have in common? They are all anti-inflammatories!

That is why this will work whether one has demodex mites or not.

I will say again that I believe that, in fact, this condition is a generic reaction to any number of imbalances in the body. There is no one cause. That is why effectiveness varies so much between treatment methods.

Re: The Sea Buckthorn Treatment Guide

hear, hear, mctendo! I agree. Example, a runny nose - why does a person have a runny nose? allergies, a cold, the flu, it's cold out, they're cutting onions. Same outward symptom, different causes.

also, another bit of my $.02 - "Sea Buckthorn pulp, from where the juice comes, is high in some fatty acids called palmitic and palmitoleic acid. I have had more improvement in my skin also since taking sea buckthorn fruit _and_ seed oil capsules. It may be from fatty acids along with the other vitamin content that helped. I had been doing OP and taking EFA supplements for about 5 or 6 months b4 I added the sea buckthorn into my regimen. I had similar sorts of reactions to the original EFAs that people get when they start Sea Buck by itself for a supposed demodex overpopulation. I think it may just be that sea buckthorn is helpful to some of us nutritionally - that is to say, I'm not convinced I had too many mites." though it sure sounds plausible when I get itchy!

Smile Re:Demodex mites and treatments

Hello Everyone!
Finally i found this forum! I wounder if any of you have KP that are not red? My KP is mainly on my face, neck and chest. The bumps forms up in rows. kind of like small lines with pearls, is this normal? I also read a post from a doctor who treated the demodex with mite treatment, Permethrin,
Rosacea • demodex mites treatment
She had rosacea and her condition worsened in the beginning of her treatment, just like it has done for some of you who treated the demodex with sea buckthorn, interesting. Her rosacea totally vanished after the treatment.
I think I have the mite version, because my hair gets really oily unnormally fast and it´s really lusterless and breaks of easily, it looks like it`s damaged and brittle right when its growing out. Also my eyelids are swollen at the lining with my eyelashes, its´s not called the eyelash mite for nothing.
Anyway my KP is really bad, and its horrible to have it allover your face and neck, I`m glad I found you all!!!

Re: The Sea Buckthorn Treatment Guide

Indeed, good points, bd!

In a way, it gives me more hope. Because I'm starting to look at the science of inflammation, and I'm seeing that it's really just an internal puzzle that I'll eventually solve. Because once you know what you're looking for, it is only the passage of time. No one ever got anywhere in life by giving up.

johannan, that is very interesting. Good to have you here! Stick around and network with us!

Also, there are multiple kinds of Keratosis Pilaris, and some people have the type that is not red. I wish I was one of them, because this would be a lot easier.

Re: The Sea Buckthorn Treatment Guide

Today I skipped dermabrasion and just applied the Sea Buckthorn lotion. The reason is because last night I noticed that my arm was hot. Yes, HOT. And I'm still finding that I'm experiencing acne on my arm. The other arm is totally fine because I'm not treating it.

I know that the retexturing that I'm doing is showing results. But is it normal to have some of the bumps get a bit swollen? I find that the inbetween parts of my arm, where there are no bumps, are getting really nice and soft. Moreso than before. When my skin is overheating, I think it's time to take a little break. So I will resume treatment tomorrow.

I've noticed I'm feeling more of an emotional dependance on long sleeved shirts. I only have two right now, but I wear them a lot because I just can't stand looking at my forearms. But I think I've been very patient so far with treatment, and it's been a while. I know that I'm not seeing a lot of results from the Sea Buckthorn yet, but it could very well be that this light(but uncomfortable!) case of pustule acne is being caused by something it does.

It's the same thing with that little face experiment. Two days was enough to convince me that, yeah, this stuff gives me a bad reaction. But I'm not convinced that it is an allergy, but, rather, some sort of 'drawing' action. I know, this gets into the science of acne formation etc. But I know that it does not take 2 weeks for me to get a reaction to something. It doesn't take 2 weeks after I eat something I'm allergic to(dairy), it manifests as acne within a day or two or three. So I don't know.

Re: The Sea Buckthorn Treatment Guide

I hope Duckles has the time to come back soon and update us on her progress.

Okay so, what I'm finding is that my right arm, the one I'm not treating at all, is less irritated looking. Granted, there are more bumps. The lighting, inflammation fluctuations that occur throughout the day, all these things get in the way and cloud things. But it is certain that my untreated arm has NO acne. Whereas, the one I'm working on keeps developing more. As some heal and fade, more come to take its place. There is obviously a clear and unmistakable correlation, and I don't think anyone would question the obviousness thereof.

Right now I feel overwhelmed. I'm not getting very far with this. It's been a few weeks now. But I'm going to keep working at it, of course.

This condition is really difficult to treat, when you don't know what is causing it. I have a hunch that, for me, it's probably my digestive system.

The good news about this is that, eventually, I will be the victor. Until then, I'd be a fool to say that there isn't going to be ups and downs in terms of emotional state over the issue.

Re: The Sea Buckthorn Treatment Guide

Weleda makes a Sea Buckthorn body wash and lotion that you can get at Wal Greens in the cosmotology section if anyone is looking to try and buy it locally instead of online. It comes in a orange tube.

my stuff came today. however, i think the problem is in my digestive system as well so i'm not really having high hopes but it feels better to know i'm trying something. the kp isnt my primary concern at the moment because i have ibs and hormonal problems and maybe if those are causing the kp, but it's definitely added stress.

did you guys buy a seabuckthorn supplement as well? i got the drink sir duckles suggested as well.

If you could post symptoms of the demodex you showed... What you used, soap, shampoo, drink, lotion etc.. and if there were any reactions that would be really helpfull and ofcourse anything else you feel necessary

Re: The Sea Buckthorn Treatment Guide

thank You for this information and for your hard work in research. I went out today and bought up as much of the sea buckthorn as I could find (didnt buy the sea buckthorn 7 juice since its 30 bucks a bottle and I want to find the capsules). i will report back on my progress.
so far I must agree the shampoo Dr haushkias is really good it made my hair fuller. I got the well Weleda oil (it didnt smell to good) I will add it to my lotion. Im still looking for face dr in my area. Thanks again
