Sea Buckthorn Juice - Welcome to Weleda Online I think Weleda is the brand that most people here drink. I haven't tried it though - it's supposed to taste a bit foul! I'm seeing results with just the capsules and the soap but the drink could help speed it up maybe. |

Re: The Sea Buckthorn Treatment Guide
I'm using coco oil now as well, I'm currently only using the SBT showersoap since I ran out of the drink and bodylotion. I cant find the shampoo however. Does anyone know a good brand in the Netherlands. I think I'm still going to buy more SBT stuff and see how all of this combined will work

Re: The Sea Buckthorn Treatment Guide
Has anyone noticed a shorter time-to-breakout using the Weleda body oil? I'm using the oil daily on both arms and left leg (experimenting...hahah) plus the soap about twice a week. I can't use the soap more because my poor body would be dry and crispy if I showered that much, hence the constant oiling.
Anyhow, I'm noticing red, inflamed spots that look NOTHING like my KP and sometimes have a tiny bit of pus inside but often just bleed when I'm dumb enough to pick at them. Is this the beginning of my breakout? I actually started getting those almost immediately. I've been getting sun as often as possible too, now that it's finally sunny in the Midwest. |

Re: The Sea Buckthorn Treatment Guide
Have anyone of you tried other brands besides Weleda?
Some mom in the Parent's corner forum talked about L'Occitane products (nice soaps) and I went there and found that they also sell SBT products... Also, there's a reasearch company called: sibu and they sell also SBT products. Do they work as well? |

Re: The Sea Buckthorn Treatment Guide
I started using SBT soap about a month ago and it makes me break out (looks like mosquito bites or sth...), does this mean I'm infested with these mites?

Re: The Sea Buckthorn Treatment Guide
Hi all, Sea Buckthorn only minor improvement after 2 months - seemed to even out blochy skin, but did very little for the KP & Acne.
Was using the daily drink x2 and every second day pure oil on skin overnight. Switch to azelaic acid cream / gel for the face 90% improvent after 3 weeks. Don't know if its mites or if the Azeliac acid is doing a lot of other things which do help apparently. Haven't tried it on the arms lengs as I'm many interested in fixing the face so I don't have to spend time in the morning putting acne coloured cream every where so I can go out ! PS Oil pulling did nothing no matter what oil i tried, had really clean shiny teeth but that's not what I was trying to fix - Ie KP with acne. Guess you just have to keep trying things until somthing works for you... From the DrugBank.ca .... "Azelaic acid is a saturated dicarboxylic acid found naturally in wheat, rye, and barley. It is a natural substance that is produced by Malassezia furfur (also known as Pityrosporum ovale), a yeast that lives on normal skin. It is effective against a number of skin conditions, such as mild to moderate acne, when applied topically in a cream formulation of 20%. It works in part by stopping the growth of skin bacteria that cause acne, and by keeping skin pores clear. Azelaic acid's antimicrobial action may be attributable to inhibition of microbial cellular protein synthesis For the topical treatment of mild-to-moderate inflammatory acne vulgaris.PharmacologyAzelaic acid is a saturated dicarboxylic acid found naturally in wheat, rye, and barley. Azelaic acid's antimicrobial action may be attributable to inhibition of microbial cellular protein synthesis.Mechanism of ActionThe exact mechanism of action of azelaic acid is not known. It is thought that azelaic acid manifests its antibacterial effects by inhibiting the synthesis of cellular protein in anaerobic and aerobic bacteria, especially Staphylococcus epidermidis and Propionibacterium acnes. In aerobic bacteria, azelaic acid reversibly inhibits several oxidoreductive enzymes including tyrosinase, mitochondrial enzymes of the respiratory chain, thioredoxin reductase, 5-alpha-reductase, and DNA polymerases. In anaerobic bacteria, azelaic acid impedes glycolysis. Along with these actions, azelaic acid also improves acne vulgaris by normalizing the keratin process and decreasing microcomedo formation. ![]() Azelaic acid may be effective against both inflamed and noninflamed lesions. Specifically, azelaic acid reduces the thickness of the stratum corneum, shrinks keratohyalin granules by reducing the amount and distribution of filaggrin (a component of keratohyalin) in epidermal layers, and lowers the number of keratohyalin granules.AbsorptionApproximately 4% of the topically applied azelaic acid is systemically absorbed." HI,
I am, what I think to be, a KP sufferer. I have had these same bumps you have been talking about for a LOONNNG time. Nothing helps. I'm actually getting married this June, and was on the search for a scrub with lactic acid because I heard this helps. I was reading what you posted about the Sea Buckthorn Treatment. I'd like to try it out, but it scares me when you mention that it will flare up. How bad are we talking? Like I said, im getting married in June, and my main reason for trying to find something is that I want my skin to look normal!!!! I am not fearful of the flareup before I get better, I am concerned with how bad and how long. Do you think I have time to start this right now? Or should I wait until after the wedding, and try mild stuff to make my skin look better. It used to just be on the backs of my arms, now its all over my thighs, plus, I never thought that this was it, but maybe my scalp! My scalp has become very irritated within the past year, and I have NO idea what it is. My scalp itches like crazy, i get bumps, boyles, all sorts of stuff, and if i wash my hair everyday, my hair gets dry LOL I did over the past week, get a sea salt scrub at an Aveda salon, with a scalp massage. I have to say, the bumps on my left arm are noticibly gone, not so much the right??? and the oil they used for my scalp, BLUE OIL, worked great too. For the first time in a year, my scalp has been much better. Much less itching and less bumps My thighs tho, STILL PRETTY BAD. And the itching you mention at nitetime? which keeps me from sleeping at times? Could this be it, these nasty parasites??? I have excessive itching after being in the sun. So, I try things to keep the itching down. I can't avoid the sun. If i've been out on the boat all day, I one, don't shower, I wait until the next day (gross, im sooo sorry, but at least i can sleep most of the nite!!!!), and I scrub w an oil salt scrub in the shower. Helps, but I kno, doesnt solve the problem. I have had NO IDEA what this itching is, been to dr's, they dont know either. I think THEY think I'm nuts, I have no rash or irritation, what *itch* am I talking about??? Now after reading your post, could it be parasites??? YUCK! Anyways. Not to talk your ear off, my concern is, should I try the Sea Buckthorn treatment now? Or wait until after my June wedding? I don't want to be more bumpy walking down the aisle LOL! I was thinking of trying this scrub from Sephora KP Duty until my wedding. I am excited to see though, if the Sea Buckthorn Treatment will help the bumps on my thighs and arms forever! AND my crazy thigh itch that wakes me up to itch!!!! Thanks so Much!!!! Christina |

As for the wedding, I'm not sure what to say. My arms took at least a month to start looking noticeably better and they are still not perfect (I think it's supposed to takes 4 months to get it to work completely). If you can get just as good results with the sea salt scrub then maybe you should stick with that for the moment and try this after the wedding. I'm very hopeful for this for me as a long term treatment but the thing is it does take a long time to work and it doesn't work for everybody. PS I did read some posts about a Eucalyptus wash (from Bath and Body Works?) that was maybe killing demodex mites and it's supposed to clear up the skin within a week or something. Maybe you could have a look into this if you're after quick results. I haven't tried it myself though so I can't say for certain. |

The coconut oil made a little bit of difference to me as I'm pretty sure some of the plugs in my arms came out when I started rubbing them with it. I'm not sure how much of a difference it makes but after a shower/bath it's a good moisturiser so even if it hasn't made a huge difference I don't think it does any harm. Not sure what to offer as advice as everyone is so different and different stuff works for different people. Best of luck anyway whatever you try ![]() Last edited by anna1850; 04-26-2008 at 07:07 PM.. Reason: grammar |
