Re: Cured at last with oil pulling

Where are you getting these oils? Is it a regular supermarket item, or is it found online only?

Hi Tom,

You can buy good quality oils at natural food stores or health food stores. If they don't have any, ask them to order some. You want to look for oils that or organic, unrefined and cold pressed or expeller pressed. You can also order on line. If you can't find anything like this, regular cooking oil will help also. Just don't use corn, canola or peanut oil. They aren't healthy.

Re: Cured at last with oil pulling

Hi Kebod,

You said that coconut oil is the best in moisturising your skin, isn't it? Because I have very dry skin, I wanted to try coconut oil, but as it is solid you have to let it melt in your mouth, right? Or do you first warm the oil a bit, so it becomes liquid and than you OP? I know it is a strange question, but the feeling of the oil melting in my mouth is very weird...

Re: Cured at last with oil pulling

Belgiangirl,

You can warm the oil until it melts. Here are some options: keep the jar in a warm place, like a closet with the water heater or keep it near a heater vent. I make a pot of herb tea in the morning, using a pot that has a flat lid. I put a little glass jar of coconut oil on top of the pan lid. It melts quickly. Or you can put a little jar of coconut oil inside a pot of warm water.

Re: Cured at last with oil pulling

Ok, Kebod, thanks. Maybe I'll just put a little glass jar in my microwave oven for a couple of seconds... That's my only choice I guess.

Thanks, Ayla and Kebod.
Between Trader Joe's and Whole Foods I should be able to find some.
One more question. Is there any reason that I should not combine Sea Buckthorn treatment with an oil pulling regiment?

Tom, I know of no reason why you can't combine the two. Please let us know your results. Also, what kind of oil you used.

Re: Cured at last with oil pulling

so you just place 2-3 tablespoons of sunflower oil in your mouth and swish swash for 20mins?

Im 16, and a little confused, I don't get how this can solve a skin problem. Can anyone explain? And are their any side effects? Im really willing to try this if it does really work!

Re: Cured at last with oil pulling

You place one tablespoon oil in your mouth and swish for 20 minutes. If this seems like too much oil or 20 min. seems to long, start with one teaspoon for 5 minutes and gradually increase amount and time.

We don't know how this works. I do know it doesn't help everyone's KP, but it does help everyone's over-all health. It does remove mouth bacteria, which, if not removed, would be absorbed into the body. Medical research has found a connection between oral bacteria, heart disease and diabetes. OP probably contributes essential fatty acids (efa) that are known to increase health.

There are no side affects. A small minority of people experience increased acne in the first few days. Only very few have reported this. If this happens, it actually is a good thing, as this is a process of eliminating toxins from the body. The skin is the body's second largest cleansing organ, and all kinds of "junk" are released through it.

If you try OP, give it at least 30 days to see if it helps. Even if it doesn't help your KP, you will be doing a very healthy thing for your body, and probably whitening your teeth. Please let us know if you try it and if you notice any changes.

Re: Cured at last with oil pulling

nykphelp,

I completely sympathise with you -- it's bad enough to have KP, and now eczema, too. I had never heard before about eczema being caused by OP. If anything, it seems to have a softening effect on the skin. OP turned my life-long dry skin into soft skin. Of course, stop OP if you think it is causing this. Only you can tell, and know if it is not helping you.

thank you kebod, i was wondering if maybe it will come up and then go away sort of like healing it so it never comes back, what do you think?

Re: Cured at last with oil pulling

I just can't say, nyk. It seems that after 30 days, it should be gone, if OP is causing it. There might be another cause, but I think you should stop OP and see what happens. Are you applying moisturizer to the eczema areas? Eucerin is a good brand of cream to use. Have you taken a test for candida? Candida sufferers can have multiple skin problems, including eczema, as candida causes allergies and skin reactions.
