Re: Cured at last with oil pulling
Hello Everybody!
I have a mild case of Keratosis Pilaris and it never bothered me until I became very self conscious after beginning a relationship with someone. It is mostly just contained on my upper arms, with my right arm being more abundant of KP than my left. I want perfect skin, and I will do anything to achieve skin I can be comfortable with. I do not have bumps as much as redness, and nobody has ever commented it, but I guess we're all our toughest critic. I just wanted to share what I am doing in attempt to achieve perfect smooth skin on my arms. I have started oil pulling, twice daily for 20 minutes in the morning and evening. I have also started to head the route of the anti-inflammatory diet, although have only begun my transition to it. I have also started taking supplements, and will soon be purchasing the following: Dr Natura Colon Cleansing Program (Colonix) & Dr Natura Toxinout Colon Cleansing, Constipation, IBS, Colonix, Cleanse, Detox – Online Resource I have also begun using a topical lotion called MaMa Lotion, available online or from the dermstore. This contains mandelic and malic acid and it seems to be addressing my KP, although I am only a couple of days into this "trend" of treating my skin and health from the inside out... I will update everyone on my progress, as I am very confident in treating the problem from the inside out, and am fully willing to comply. |

Your method sounds very interesting. I hope it works for you. What is exactly is an anti-inflammatory diet?

Lisette,
Here is a link where you can read about the anti-inflammatory diet. Inflammation, caused by certain foods, can affect our bodies in many different ways. Since the redness associated with KP is a form of inflammation, an anti-inflammatory diet may help this issue. Google "anti-inflammatory diet" if you want to learn more. http://www.angelhealingcenter.com/An...atoryDiet.html kebod |

Re: Cured at last with oil pulling
It's amazing I found this community here who all have the same problem as me. A few months ago I visited my doctor who basically told me "oh it's called Keratosis Pilaris and there's nothing you can do about it." Wow, so much that did to my self-esteem. I basically went home crying, got over it, but just last night I thought to myself, "i'm smarter than the doctor, i'm going to find a cure myself." And thankfully I came across the OP. Tonight I purchased my first jar of Coconut Oil and am more than excited to start in the morning. I also suffer from KPRF which i'm hoping will clear up as well. Oh and talk about getting hit with the skin problem train, i've also got an unknown blotchiness that appears when i'm nervous or warm or even drinking alcohol. So with all of these skin problems which bring me down, i'm beyond thankful for all of this help! I'm 20-years-old, ready to start a carrer, and want to start being more responsible for my health and take care of myself. I'll keep you all updated!

Re: Cured at last with oil pulling
Redannie,
You have come to the right place to find a remedy, but you may also find that there are different remedies for each of us. For me, oil pulling did the trick, but not for everybody. I encourage you to try it and let us know if it was able to help. Give oil pulling at least a month to see if there is an improvement. Our skin is a large cleansing organ, reacting to different stimuli. Have you tried eliminating alcohol to see if the blotches stop altogether? You may have a sensitivity to alcohol. Please post again, and also check out Baronster's "Worst Case of KP Treated Naturally" forum. She and I are each trying to treat the the cause of KP, instead of the symptom at skin level. kebod |

Re: Cured at last with oil pulling
Supeng,
If your mouth becomes too full of saliva, spit it out and start with new oil. Too much saliva when you first start oil pulling is common and a good sign. You are right - it will reduce day by day. Please post again and let us know if oil pulling helps you. kebod |

Re: Cured at last with oil pulling
Desperate,
Yes, I think you should try oil pulling. I don't know if it will help your KP or not, as it seems to work best for mild cases, but it will absolutely improve your overall health, especially skin, sinus and menstrual issues. You will have to try it to see if it makes a difference. If you want to try it: Buy a very good quality oil, such as coconut, sunflower or untoasted sesame at a natural food store or order online. Put 1 tablespoon in your mouth when you have not eaten for 3 hours. For this reason, most people do it first thing in the morning. Slowly move the oil around in your mouth for 20 minutes. If this seems too long, just do it for 5-10 minutes and gradually increase the time. After 20 minutes, spit it out in the toilet or down the sink. Rinse mouth with warm salt water. Sea salt is best; brush teeth. You can now eat and drink. It is best to drink 1-2 glasses of water afterward. If you have candida, you need to start the candida diet. Do it gradually. You don't have to give up all carbs at once if you don't think you can. It probably took me three months to give up all carbs 100%. As far as "refined sugar" goes, it's all sugar. Brown sugar, honey, molassas, maple syrup. It's all sugar and it all feeds candida and decreases your immune system. Someday, when I am candida free, I will just eat sugar in extremely small doses for special occasions. I really do believe that a tropical climate contributes to candida (but doesn't cause it), as I have read that candida symptoms are worse when it is hot and humid and there is a lot of mold. Post again if you have any questions or comments. kebod |

Re: Cured at last with oil pulling
Hi Mommy,
Spectrum is a good brand to look for. Types would be sunflower, coconut and untoasted sesame. Coconut oil is solid below 74 degrees F. If it is solid, just put a small amount in a dish in a pan of hot water. Don't let it get hot. Or you can put it in your mouth and the warmth of your mouth will melt it. Go to Baronster's forum and ask her about a book on candida -- she may know. But if you start googling, you will find all the information you need. Please let us know if oil pulling is helpful. kebod |

Re: Cured at last with oil pulling
Kebod,
Thanks for the info on oil pulling. I have coconut oil. I have been using it on my legs, it is spectrum unrefined cold pressed 100% coconut oil. It is kind of solid, but melts quickly almost when you touch it. So I am going to start tomorrow morning. I will let you know who it goes. Thanks. |

Re: Cured at last with oil pulling
Hi Kebod,
Have you ever heard of anyone adding the oil of oregano to their oil? This is what I have added to my husbands oil. His problem with his uvula swelling has not gone away after finishing the strep antibiotic, matter of fact it started growing again the minute he resumed using the coconut oil. So I have put him on the sunflower oil (it is not as strong as cococnut) and we add oil or oregano to it. He is also taking the oregano 3 times a day to help rid his body of the infection. We hope he can eventually go back on the coconut oil. |

Re: Cured at last with oil pulling
Peaches,
Not only have I heard of it, I'm using it right now in my coconut oil for pulling to combat candida. These are its features: "Oregano essential oil has antiviral, antibacterial, antifungal, antiparasitic, and antiseptic properties" Oregano Essential Oil: Information and Much More from Answers.com I am using 2-3 drops per tablespoon of coconut oil. Molly Bloom from the Cure Zone Oil Pulling forum recommends that it not be used long-term, as, like other antibiotics, it can build up resistance. I have not been able to verify this on the internet, but I am following her advice. Have you researched Grapefruit Seed Extract? It is a broad sprectrum natural antibiotic that can be taken indefinitely. Diagnose-Me: Treatment: Grapefruit Seed Extract and Grapefruit Seed Extract My husband has problems with a chronic infection, and he takes GSE daily to stay infection-free. I urge you to look into this. I'm concerned about your husband taking pharmaceutical antibiotics frequently. Frequent antibiotic use can cause candida, as it did for me. At the least, he should also be taking a good probiotic to rebuild the beneficial stomach culture and/or fermented foods like kefir and live saurerkraut. kebod |
