Re: cured at last
Sunflower, untoasted sesame or coconut, all preferably organic and expeller-pressed or cold-pressed. You can find them at a natural food or health food store or buy them online.

Re: cured at last
Hi Kristy,
If you want to go wa-a-ay back in the pages somewhere here, you can see my after photos. The redness in the photos is scarring from picking, not inflamed bumps. After a summer of tanned arms, even my redness is gone now, I'm so happy to say! I didn't know if it would ever go away, and it just took one summer (plus oil pulling, omega-3 oils, good coconut oil on my skin, good diet, etc.....) I know we have some other photos posted here, but you'll just have to go back through the pages to look for them. It might be easier to try oil pulling ![]() kebod |

Re: cured at last
Okay so I did my first oil pull this morning!
I picked up some coconut oil from a health food store - even though it's solid so more like a butter than an oil (is that okay?), but it melted up in my mouth pretty quickly. Could only do it for about 5 minutes - not sure how I'll ever build it up to 20 minutes, but I will see how I go. I found that my mouth filled up with so much saliva I had trouble holding it all in lol Last edited by Loz; 09-26-2007 at 06:18 AM.. |

Re: cured at last
Hi Loz,
Coconut oil is solid under 74 degrees. F. Your mouth warmth will quickly melt it, or you can put a small amount in a little dish and put that in a pan of warm water to melt it. Or keep your jar of coconut oil in a warm place, but not hot. Bit by bit, you'll be able to work up to 20 min. That's good that your mouth quickly filled with saliva. When it is full, spit it out and do it again, if you want. That's what I do. After doing OP for a while, you probably won't produce as much saliva as quickly. Please post again and let us know what you think of this. kebod |

Re: cured at last
Hi Kebod, I have a question for you since you have been doing the OP so long, it's not regarding KP but just op.
My husband is doing the OP for his KP on his arms but last week something came up and I am just now putting 2 + 2 together. First, my husband gets strep throat at least once a year sometimes twice, he is almost allergic to it if that makes sence. His uvula (that thing hanging in back of throat) grows long when he gets strep and swells and can be dangerous, which is why he is so conscience if he thinks he was exposed to strep he goes to the dr right away. Anyway, last week he went to the dr because he thought he had strep, he went to a clinic instead of his doctor, couldnt get in fast enough, anyway they did not test him for strep but just gave the anitbiotic since his uvula was growing and swelling and dh insisted it was strep. Well, right before he did this he had gotten a sore on his mouth, which I later thought, hmmm, maybe from doing the OP. Well, I remember reading somewhere if you are sick you should not do the oil pulling , but I dont remember why, so I told him to quit doing it while on antibiotics. One question is this, would the oil pulling remove medications from the blood? That is why I had him stop. Kinda makes sence. What do you think? Next thing, I noticed his sinuses have gotten sooooo bad again, as it was prior to doing the oil pulling, which the OP cleared up so much. So I figure its gotten worse again since he quit doing the OP. Next question: I am starting the think that the oil pulling is what stirred up the strep throat. He has strep often, and I am thinking the oil pulling sirred up the dormant strep as it was pulling it out, ie: the sore in his mouth just prior to the strep. What do you think? Could oil plulling pull out the dormant/ carrier of strep?? I think it makes a good theory, but I am wondering if it will happen again when he gets done with the antibiotic in 2 days and starts the op again. If so, that could lead to a problem....does he try and push through it if it pulls it out again? There is a danger for him with strep since the uvula could swell to the point of choking. But in my mind I cant help but wonder if he could do the op long enough it would pull all of it out for good. I know you are not a doctor and only have opinions but I would love to hear your thougts on this, if you have any. Sorry this is so long, this is the one place I know to ask questions since you have done it so long. thank you so much |

Re: cured at last
Hi Peaches,
Well, I'm no doctor, so this isn't a professional opinion, just a guess. I guess it is possible oil pulling could stir up a dormant infection, if he always has strep present in his throat. I can't find any info on whether one can oil pull while taking antibiotics, so I don't have an answer there. On the Oil Pulling Forum, people are doing OP instead of antibiotics, with great results, so once he gets cleared up, maybe he can do OP again to fend off future strep and keep his sinuses clear. Maybe you would like to post this question on the Cure Zone Oil Pulling forum and see what they say: Oil Pulling & Oil Swishing Support Forum: Page 71 of 71 Do you know about grapefruit seed extract? It is a natural antibiotic that does not cause resistance and can be taken indefinitely. My husband takes it every day. It comes in liquid and tablet form. Google it to learn more. Perhaps if your husband took it daily, he would not risk recurring strep. Hope this helps. kebod |

Re: cured at last
Thanks for your opinion!
I can not get signed up on that forum, I have tried several times and it doesn't work, not sure why. I believe it was the op that caused the strep this time but because my husband has such serious reprecussions to strep I am not sure how long we can try the op or anything else before going to a doctor. If his uvula swells too much he can choke so its very scary to play around with. I talked to him today and we both agree with the the oil pulling could possible cause another outbreak of strep and we both "think" it could cure him of the strep if he could continue to do it. We both just have fears of how far to push through since it has such bad effects for him. (there is a medical term for what he has, which is more than strep but basically his body can not tolerate strep so i simplify it and just say he is allergic to strep) I wish I knew more, its a little scary with his situation. (he did end up in the hospital once due to strep). I wish I knew if he could do the op while on antibiotics, or why you should not op while sick. (i read that from that ted guy I think) Anyway, thank you for your opinions. He will be off the antibiotic in 2 days, we will both be praying for guidance in this time for wisdom and see what happens when he starts the op again. I do believe this will happen again, the strep. I really believe the op is pulling it out...its just how we get through it is the problem. thanks! |

Re: cured at last
Help! I'm a first time poster, and another victim of Keratosis Pilaris...by scrubbing my arms daily, I've been able to reduce/eliminate the bumps over time.
The problems is the awful dark brownish spots Keratosis Pilaris has left behind..they will not go away. My skin color is like Beyonce's, and nothing I've tried will fade these marks. Will Oil Pulling help with the spots?? They aren't red, more like brownish scars. Any advice of what else would work, or any products that may work for my skin color?? ANY HELP IS SO APPRECIATED!!! |

Re: cured at last
paajasa, I can only share my experience, which is for my husband and kids, the more they scrub or pick the worse the scars are. In my opinion, its almost like acne, whats left behind after scrubbing and picking are scars or discoloration. Time has lightened some of the places but they don't seem to go away on his arms, but he no longer picks or forcefully scrubs them to make new ones.
good luck |

Re: cured at last
Paajasa,
In answer to your question, I don't know if oil pulling will help the discoloration, but I can tell you that OP makes skin soft and clear of acne. It has a direct influence on the health of skin, so I suggest you try it. OP will feed your body the essential fatty acids, specifically omega-3. Please post again and let us know if it makes a difference. |

Re: cured at last
Kebod and all -
I posted some omega-3 info links on my blog BUT the third one I posted is specifically about diet and skin. I recommend all 4 pages, the last has a list of foods for skin health: Want Healthy Skin? Feed It Well (I don't/won't eat much fish - it's an environmental conservation issue for me - but flaxseed oil and hemp oil or good subs.) - bd |

Re: cured at last
Hi Kerato,
If you have cold-pressed sunflower oil, that is a very good oil to use for oil pulling. Cold-pressed does not refer to the ability of an oil to not turn solid in the fridge, but rather the method of extracting the oil from the seeds. To answer your other questions on Baronster's forum (Worst Case of KP Treated Naturally), if you still want coconut oil and can not find it where you live, you can order in online. Also, if there is too much saliva and you can't hold it in your mouth, spit everything out and start with a fresh spoon of oil. Eventually, your mouth will not collect so much saliva. Lots of saliva is normal for when you first start oil pulling. It is a good sign. For candida, eat lots of garlic. You can make garlic tea; it is more pleasant than eating lots of raw garlic: bring 1 liter of water to a boil. Turn off heat. Add 4 large cloves of smashed garlic. Let steep for 20 minutes. Add the juice of one lime. Drink throughout the day. kebod |
