That is so wonderful!!

How exciting for you all!! I really wish I knew how long my husbands took to go away. I had been so used to seeing if for so long, that I really didn't notice until Kebod posted. He's been pulling for about 8 months, so could have been anytime really.

You should rinse with warm Sea Salt water. Rinse and gargle. This is the icing on the cake of the oil pulling, and really greatly enhance the experience.

Sometimes I have to think about whether I actually brushed my teeth, they feel so clean I forget.

Even though I love the taste of Sunflower, I swear the Sesame was stronger in the reaction I had. My teeth weren't getting any whiter on the Sunflower after months and months, and when I changed to Sesame, they started getting really white again.

Today, I started pulling with Apricot Kernel Oil, because, why not? Will see how that goes.

Heck, you can mix them in the spoon. You can do one oil early, and a different later. You can do one for 5 minutes, and another for 5 and so and and so forth.

As we said before, there is no exact science. But none of it will harm you anyway.

Good luck.

Molly

Unhappy Question regarding oil pulling

Hello,
I'm a new member here and I have been suffering with this skin condition for years. I have KP most of my body... starting from below the abdomen to my inner and outer thighs and buttocks (of course). It's basically all over my legs. I don't have red bumps...or at least they don't look red because of my dark skin tone. They look dark brown and my skin is extremely rough due to this. What's puzzling about this is there are 2 dark brown patches (on the sides of my upper calves). These patches are darker and more rough than the rest of my sin and honestly, it doesn't even feel like skin anymore. I'm desperately in need of help and therefore after many unsucessful attempts, I decided to try oil pulling. I just started it this morning (with coconut oil) and I had a couple of questions regarding it. I understand that it has to be done on an empty stomach. Now, should it necessarily be done in the morning? If so, then can I brush first? How long should I wait before I eat or have a cup of coffee?

Thanks!

The oil pulling does not need to be done in the morning, and it's best not to have eaten for about 4 hours prior to pulling. Most people find that morning is the most effective for health benefits so they may pull while in the shower.

You can brush your teeth prior, or after, it's up to you.

You can eat or drink as soon as you are done. I always have my green powder almost immediately.

Good luck. Let us know how it works out for you!!

Molly

First of all, read this page for a description on how to do it:

http://curezone.com/forums/description.asp?f=738

It doesn't have to be done in the morning, but it should be done on an empty stomach. First thing in the morning, our stomachs are about as empty as they can be. Later in the day is fine, if you have gone 3 hours without eating. Some on the oil pulling forum http://curezone.com/forums/f.asp?f=738 say they have done it anytime of the day, even soon after eating, with mixed results.

I brush my teeth first with baking soda (I have stopped using toothpaste altogether, and my teeth have never looked or felt better).

As soon as you are done and your mouth is brushed and rinsed with warm salt water, eat and drink whatever you want.

In the last 3 months, I have become acutely aware of what I am putting into myself, since whatever toxins/chemicals go in, hopefully come out with the oil pulling. To help that effort, I stopped using toothpaste when I found a better alternative, stopped drinking coffe, stopped using deoderant even. No, I am not anti-social, but one of the oil pulling forum members said that coconut oil works better than any deoderant, and she is correct. After a shower, I apply with my fingers a very thin film of coconut oil to my armpits. I have to say it is more effective than any deoderant and lasts for 24 hours. I never used anti-perspirants, and there is still some moisture if I get really worked up, but I can live with that. Coconut oil is also a great facial moisturizer.

As for your dark patches, have you been checked by a dermatologist?

I'm gratified to learn of recent successes. I really hope this is a complete cure.

kebod

I agree with Kebod on all those healthy improvements. My husband and I both suffered from acid reflux, and it almost completely went away when we stopped coffee (and I LOVE coffee). We also have have the philosophy that if you can't eat it, we won't use it on our skin. It's a bit more expensive than just buying Dove at the store, but has been well worth the change. I also only use natural face products and makeup. We try to buy organic, we have cut out most red meat, we've cut way back on dairy. All of this has proved to be exceptional for our general health. I don't even miss coffee anymore, and drink the occasional green tea if I want any caffeine at all.

There are some very logical theories in the world of alternative medicine, whose philosophy is, clean the body, and the bodies immune system will cure all that ails you. It's not just taking this or that herb or supplement, it's a mental process to change your habits. I can't even imagine eating junk food or drinking a soda anymore....

Just my 2 cents....

Molly

That may be part of it Dee. Although I'd say in the last three years my eating habits have been very healthy (unlike my habits in high school), I've been an avid runner to top it off, and I don't think my KP improved with these lifestyle changes. Even so, my older sister's KP completely disappeared when she was in her early 20s, and I think this was definitely due to her good health, but maybe also due to genetics, as my aunt said hers also disappeared then. My sister thinks hers cleared because she takes in a lot of fish and takes Omega supplements, but I tried the supplements, and they seemed to work for a couple weeks, and the KP would come back again.

One interesting thing though, is that whenever I eat a salmon filet, I do see the KP temporarily fade, but even if you're eating wild caught, you're not supposed to have more than 8 filets a month - so I didn't want to risk it. But this oil pulling is absolutely amazing -I'm so happy that I found this forum! And for the update on my KP since yesterday - now the right arm is looking a little better too. I think it's all gonna disappear!

Yes, I agree w/ all of you w/ the healthy eating habits. Although, as healthy as I am, I've always always had bumpy arms, thighs/butt. The oil pulling is the only thing that has made a difference in that regard.

My left arm is now almost as smooth as the right. Yesterday there was still a big difference between the 2. My left arm felt like sand paper. Today (although not perfect) it does not feel like sand paper at all.

Now every morning when I wake up, I rub my hands across my arms & have been amazed at the difference since day 1 !

Can't notice any difference yet w/ the legs, but I have high hopes.....today was only my 5th OP. I can't wait to see what happens after a month has gone by!

Ok so i've been pulling for 5 days ( i skipped a day cause i had a really busy morning) and my arms are smoother ( the right more then the left ) and I havn't really noticed a change yet on my other areas with kp, but now I can proudly say I can pull for about 10 minutes I'm still using Safflower oil, but when that runs out I found a store with untoasted sunflower and sesame oil, so I will try one of those. I'll keep you posted, and by the way just so you know my name is Lauren, Happy Pulling!!!

You all are doing amazing well. I'm so happy. I know that Kebod, myself, my husband and son are all rooting for you.

By the way, my son (15) started doing this when he saw his father's arms, and I'm happy to report that not only is the KP starting to fade on his arms but also some acne on his back is disappearing. He's been doing this for 3 weeks using sesame oil.

So now I know three people that this is helping with. It just can't be coincidence anymore.

I've got my fingers crossed for all of you. Continue supporting each other. This forum is wonderful.

Love, Molly

Wow! That's wonderful Molly! I'm beginning to wonder if Sesame Seed/Coconut oil work better fork KP. I've been pulling with Sunflower for two weeks and haven't had much luck yet. but then...my kp is pretty severe. So if it does work, it may take a couple of months =(

but i'm so happy for the rest of you guys!

You know, I think Sesame Oil is the star of oil pulling. I'm convinced of it. Sunflower is fantastic, and great for people that can't handle anything heavy. I did it for 8 months, but then it gradually didn't give me any more benefits. But when I changed to Sesame...wow, what a huge difference. And when I was done with that bottle, I moved onto Apricot Kernel Oil and Hemp Oil. Hemp is like the strangest thing, but boy, when you pull with it, you can almost feel things happening!! (Gosh, I hope it's not he HEMP I'm feeling..LOL). It never gets white and frothy. It's like pulling your mucus membranes out of your mouth. My teeth were noticeably whiter after doing this a couple of times, but I haven't done it that much, so I hesitate to suggest this yet.

Fun with oil. There's a whole world out there. You need to find the oil that works the best for you.

Molly

Hello!

Quick question, kind of unrelated to OP but related to oil in general. Molly, I think it was you who said that canola oil is no good/toxic.

As far as cooking goes - we use olive oil moslty, sometimes sesame or peanut oil for a stir fry, but I use canola oil when I want oil, but not a strong flavor. What is a good cooking substitute for canola? Perhaps sunflower oil? If anyone has a suggestion, that would be great.

Thanks for the canola warning as I was unaware! It was my understanding that canola oil was one of the healthier oils. Learn something new everyday!

Hope everyone is doing well w/ the oil pulling!

canola oil

Here is a link where you can read more about canola oil:
http://www.shirleys-wellness-cafe.com/canola.htm
Like everything, there are two sides to this issue, but I would rather err on the side of safety. A good substitute would be safflower or sunflower oil for cooking.

I just came home with a bottle of sunflower oil to try it for pulling. I used extra virgin olive oil these last two days, and felt my skin was drier because of it. I had a constant urge to use some chapstick. So back to my favorite oil, coconut, but I wanted to try a different oil because after 3 months of using coconut, a change may produce different results.

How's everyone doing out there? I hope you are still seeing a change for the better with KP, and maybe a few other changes also.

kebod
