Just off the top of my head, I would say that your body is trying to get rid of something it doesn't want or need. OP stimulates detoxing. Be glad for this and keep on OPing.

Today was my first day with OP. I used the Safflower Oil (2 tsps) for about 15 minutes. It was harder than I thought to swish the oil for 20 minutes, and had to eventually spit it out. Im going to keep trying oil pulling for atleast a month. Ill update.

You're supposed to use 1 tbsp. If your tounge gets tired, just suck on each of your cheeks, then push the oil away from each.

I have never had experience with what you describe, so can't give an answer to your question about whether to pop it or not.

It's OK to use 2 tsp. That's what I use -- I have a small mouth and 1 tablespoon feels like too much. Use whatever feels comfortable for you. If it feels too hard to do this, start with 1 teaspoon for just 5-10 minutes, gradually increasing the amount of time and the duration of pulling/swishing. It should be such a gentle, slow action that you feel no mouth fatigue or soreness. If your mouth feels tired, you are swishing the oil too quickly.

Please post again and let us know how it is going.

Oh, okay. I'm just gonna pop it anyway so that it's gone. It tastes disgusting, though!

I just started oil pulling this morning. The only oil my mom could find at the Grocery Store that was cold-pressed was flax seed. Has anyone experimented with flax seed oil? Will flax seed benefit my kp, or should I try to find a more common oil like sunflower or sesame?

I have never used flax seed oil. Does it have a strong taste? If you like the taste, it should be a good oil to use. Is there a natural food store or health food store in your area? If so, you will probably find sunflower or sesame oil, or you can ask them to order it for you. "Expeller-pressed" is good also.

Please keep in touch with us and let us know if you see any results.

Flax seed oil would probably work. I'm using safflower oil, and it's not one of the recommended oils. It works, though.

Hey everyone, i'm just new to this forum, but have spent the last three hours or so reading through the posts on this topic of "Oil Pulling". I find it fascinating and am going to give it a try as soon as i can (hopefully tomorrow). From what i've read, Sesame Oil seems to be the most effective, so i'm gonna try and get my hands on some of that! I have suffered from Keratosis Pilaris for the last 6 or 7 years (i am 18 now) and welcome any new methods or treatments to try and get rid of it! I have tried many different creams and moisturisers, with little effect. I'm not really a very optimistic guy, having tried many different treatments with very little or no effect, but reading this forum has given me new hope. I would also like to thank kebod and Molly Bloom very much for providing such excellent advice and encouragement! It has been a pleasure reading your posts and has given me hope that this could make a real difference to this annoying and persistant problem! I will keep you updated...Thanks!

Hi All,
I have been into the op for about 1 month now. I was very exited to start something that may finally help me after many years of not knowing what the hell was wrong with me. I came back to the web site here to get psyched up again because I 'm afraid the RED dots are still ever so present and getting a little discouraged. Here's the treatments I am trying:

OP- 1 tbsp sesame oil every am
Neostrata 10% lotion/ arms and legs
Cataphil lotion to moisturize
Just started: derm dr. dermabrasive cream/expholiant
Derm dr. cream for hydration
I eat a pretty healthly diet and exercise as best I can, but do have an active fast paced job/walking alot.

Anyone Please have any ideas about the red dots?
Still red in New England

Try Olay In Shower Body Lotion to get rid of the redness. I'm using it, and wherever I put it, the redness goes away after a day or so. Use it every day or every other day.

Much love,
