Hi Everybody,
I've been so busy lately -- sorry I haven't posted in a while. I see we have a few new OPers. Kitkat, were you able to get over the gagging? If not, start with only a teaspoon of oil for 5 minutes and gradually increase the amount of oil and time. It helps to use a very mild-tasting oil if it feels uncomfortable. Simalu, I hope we hear how you are doing. And everybody, let us know how you are and how OP is going for you. This forum has been up long enough now where I think I can say that many of you have some decrease in KP, but not completely, like I did. And I think that many of you may have more severe KP than I had, as I didn't have the redness. Most of us on the OP forum are already into many other lifestyle changes to clean up and improve our health, the primary one being diet. On this forum, it sounds like many of you may be unaware of alternative health practices and not eating chemical free, super healthy diets. They all work together. Molly's recent post and several of mine in past pages talk about many other ways to clean your bodies from the inside out. Think about it. If you put low-quality fuel in your engine, how can you expect high performance. Keep on oil pulling. It can only help in many ways. kebod |

Heya guys. I decided to try the pulling a few days ago so I went out and got 100% expeller pressed sunflower oil. I pulled a tbsp for 20 and than really washed and brushed my mouth afterwards. I thought it was kind of hard. The thought of swishing OIL in my mouth that had absolutley no taste just makes me cringe. Only problem is I felt the oily lubricated feeling in my mouth all day. Maybe it was all in my mind? Either way I hated the feeling of it, so I have chickened out and havent done it since. Has anyone else had this problem?
OH and does loofa-ing..(scrubbing?) your KP help at all? I don't wanna start if it actually irritates the skin! Last edited by jigfeet; 02-19-2007 at 03:11 PM.. |

After I spit out the spent oil, I brush my teeth with baking soda, then rinse with warm salt water. Sometimes I can feel a sensation of oil in the back of my throat, but it goes away as soon as I have a big drink of water. After doing OP, you should drink 1-2 glasses of water anyway to help over-all cleansing.
I don't use a loofah, but I do dry skin brushing every day before I shower. The skin is a cleansing organ: "It is WELL known that the Skin is the LARGEST Organ in the Body, and is responsible for one-fourth of the Body's Detoxification each day, also making it, one of the most IMPORTANT Elimination Organs! The Skin is also known as the "3rd" Kidney..." To read more: http://healingtools.tripod.com/skinbrush.html I have read that it takes 2 months to see results from dry skin brushing, but it is a part of my cleansing routine that I will be doing for the rest of my life, so what's 2 months..? ![]() Please post again and let us know how it is going. kebod |

Molly, what lotions, soaps, etc. help your skin? Also, what exactly is your routine on oil pulling..as in the steps you take? I am new to oil pulling and I don't want to do it the wrong way..and you seem to know a lot about it..

Jypsee:
I actually don't have KP, my husband had it. That is the reason I'm active on this board because I saw with my own eyes what it did for my husband. KP and now it seems, 90% redness gone. I know for a fact that he doesn't put one thing on his skin (missing that vanity gene I guess). But what we have done recently is stop using harsh commercial soaps. We only use quality soap usually made of oils, olive, coconut, almond, etc. If you can't eat it, I wouldn't put it on your skin. Everything you do put on your skin is just like ingesting it. Same goes for hair and nails. In fact nail polish must be one of the worst things for you, as it absorbs into your body. That is our philosophy and our creed. Cheers to you. Molly |

Body care and OP routine
I ditto what Molly says about body products. The skin absorbs substances on its surface. I don't use nail polish or hair coloring to avoid harmful chemicals. If you wear make-up, you can buy healthy products from a natural food store. I don't even use regular toothpaste anymore, as I don't want to ingest flouride or coat my teeth with glycerin. I brush with baking soda only and my teeth have never looked or felt better.
Oil Pulling Routine: Put 1 tablespoon of good quality oil (sunflower, virgin olive oil, untoasted sesame oil, virgin coconut oil, all organic and cold-pressed if available) in your mouth when your stomach is empty. (I do it first thing in the morning when I get up.) Slowly swish the oil around your mouth for 20 minutes. Spit out in toilet or down bathroom sink. (Clean sink if you leave an oily residue, as it has toxins in it.) Brush teeth. Rinse mouth with warm salt water. Drink 1-2 glasses of water. Stand in front of the mirror and admire your very white teeth. Be aware of changes in your health and body. Learn to listen to your body, and you may become aware of subtle -- and sometimes not subtle -- health improvements, like more energy, better sleep, a happier disposition, pinker gums and tongue, more joint flexibility. And, most important of all on this forum, clearer skin. Finally, please report back to us on improvements and observations. Fabio -- safflower is fine if its all you can find. Happy pulling! kebod |

Is it supposed to feel tingly or something in your mouth? Somebody said that it felt tingly after they swished and the feeling went on throughout the day. My mouth doesn't feel any different at all. Oh, and when you swish, isn't it supposed to take a long time for the oil to turn white? Safflower oil turns white in my mouth in about 3 minutes. Maybe I'm just swishing it too fast through my mouth. Do you think that's the reason it turns white so fast?

It doesn't have to feel tingly. Mine never does. But you may notice your sense of taste is enhanced when your tongue gets cleaner.
The oil may turn white right away or may take longer. We all react differently. The swishing should be a slow, gentle motion, not fast, reaching all areas of the mouth. Please post again with any improvements you see. kebod |

Oh, okay. I guess I was swishing too fast.
Yeah, I'm noticing a pinker tongue and gums, and my teeth are a little whiter. I'm getting braces in a couple weeks, so do you think the oil will reach behind my braces so my whole tooth of each of my teeth will become whiter? Crumbles |
