My treatment: Oil pulling daily; candida diet (minimum of carbs, no sugars); omega-3 from canned salmon and sardines; sun exposure 10-15 minutes, 3 days a week, without sunblock; program to strengthen immune system; probiotic supplements; lots of water; moderate daily exercise; exfoliation with epsom salts and sugar several times a week. KP reduced 99%. If I go "off diet" -- grains, sugars, etc. -- or stop oil pulling, KP returns. Last edited by Elsa Zoe; 02-08-2010 at 10:45 AM.. |

What the...! People, quit spamming! Respect this forum as a place to share information about KP, not to push your own, personal agenda! Please.

Re: Oil pulling treatment
I just started OP about a week ago and have seen a mild improvement so far. I am using Sesame oil for OP and applying coconut oil externally. I will keep you posted.

Re: Oil pulling treatment
Hi Kebod and everyone!
I am so glad to have found this awesome site and community. I read the oil pulling forums about 3 months ago and really wanted to try it. But I had an appointment with a dermatologist (first time in 12 years or so) and wanted to see if there were any incredible medical breakthroughs before I started sucking on oil. Nothing to report there.I've had KP for as long as I can remember, and it has gotten worse into adulthood, spreading over almost my entire body. I am excited to try something that some people have had success with. Right now my skin bothers me so much, I won't even wear short sleeves around my husband. I bought some organic, cold pressed coconut oil last night, and did my first 20 minutes today. The oil is solid in the jar, but it melts almost instantly to the touch. I run the jar under hot water in the sink for about 15 seconds and that melts enough for me to get more than a tablespoon. There was virtually no taste to it. I plan on taking some pictures so I can have something to compare my progress with. The only question I had with the process is this. It's it ok to brush my teeth first? I admit I didn't read all 157 pages, but I did read the instructions a few pages back. Thanks all for your contributions to this forum! I can't wait to really explore here sometime when I'm not at work .I will post before/after pics when/if I start seeing results. |

Re: Oil pulling treatment
Hi Sara,
Welcome to our KP community. I'm glad you are trying OP. To answer your question, it is best to brush your teeth after you oil pull. I usually rinse my mouth out with water when I first get up, then oil pull, then brush my teeth and drink a big glass of water. Let us know if this helps. Lisa, Please let us know if you see further improvement.. kebod

Re: Oil pulling treatment
Thx for the reply Kebod.
I will improve my methods tomorrow! I really need to say how impressed I am with this forum. I am determined to catch up on this entire 157 page thread. I'm so captivated by all the stories and results people have had. So far I'm still reading posts from 2006, and Kebod is still here! Your enthusiasm is inspiring, and if you are still a believer after 4 years, then I am definitley a hopeful. Of course, after a lifetime of loathing my skin and wasting time and money on every other attempt, I won't hold you to any guarantees. But once again, thank you for all you've done to share this treatment with so many people longing for answers.I fully intend to get involved and keep updating my progress, as well as learning from others. Now, to explore the rest of the site. . . . :-) |

Greetings!
It is useful to try everything in practice anyway and I like that here it's always possible to find something new.

Re: Oil pulling treatment
Hello!
I've been a lurker at this forum for quite a while now. I've had KP since forever. I remember having it on my upper arms as a kid. And it got steadily worse esp during puberty. Today, I have KP on my arms, legs, thighs, butt, back, chest, stomach and it shows no signs of stopping. Until 2 months back, I had no idea what was wrong with me. I saw dermatologists; some said I'll outgrow it, some had no idea what I had and still others gave me antibiotics and other nauseating medicines/creams. This never-ending phase of misdiagnosis and drugging myself really set me thinking...I found it unbelievable that I couldn't find one single source that could tell me at least what I had, if not cure me. And thats how I found this community. I know people advise against self-diagnosis...but looking at pictures I'm pretty sure I have KP. For some time I have tried a few methods that have seemed to work for members here. For example, I have been taking evening primrose oil supplements for 3 weeks(no results yet). But after going through this thread, I'm thrilled by the promise offered by oil pulling. And my skepticism is fading. After living for so long under wraps, quite literally, it gives me hope of maybe having normal skin one day. So much so, that yesterday I got some sesame oil and extra virgin olive oil. And I plan to suspend my disbelief and take the plunge. I have some questions though: 1) The sesame oil I bought does not mention if its toasted or not. However, compared to some other brands available it was lighter in colour...its not pale yellow but golden. Can I still use it? What happens if you use toasted oil?? 2) Has anyone tried olive oil here? Were the results any good compared to the recommended oils?? In my area, the above two oils alongwith Almond oil and refined mustard oil are available. What have been your experiences with them/any advice? 3) I read somewhere in this thread that rinsing your mouth with sea salt water after oil pulling is recommended. Would rock salt work as fine?? Or is just brushing my teeth normally enough? 'Coz, sea salt is not easily available here either. I know this post is super long, but I'm just overwhelmed by the possibilities of what oil pulling can give me. Last edited by tina20; 03-29-2010 at 03:38 PM.. |

Re: Oil pulling treatment
Hi Tina,
Welcome to the KP Forum! Most likely, your sesame oil is untoasted because it is golden. Toasted has a dark color and a very strong flavor. Toasted oil will be hard to pull with because of its strong taste, plus it will not have as many nutrients, as it has been taken to a higher temperature. I have used olive oil, but didn't care for the thicker feel or the taste. It also didn't leave my teeth very white. However, some people do use it for oil pulling and like it. I have never used almond oil. As long as it is food-grade (not meant for use on the skin) and not toasted, it should be OK. I'm not sure about using mustard oil Won't it have a mustard flavor? Any salt is OK for a mouth rinse as long as it dissolves. I hope you post again and let us know if OP helped you. kebod
