Re: Oil pulling treatment

I have done the oil pulling since earlier this week. I have done the oil pulling every day but one (yesterday) and am already seeing results!!

The red dots are still there on the backs of my arms and on my legs BUT they don't seem nearly as rough. My arms are smooth! It's astounding.

I write articles for naturalnews and think I'm going to do an article on this. It may not work for everyone but it can't hurt everyone to try. I will keep you posted on the progression but so far, I'm am completely excited about the results.

Re: Oil pulling treatment

well im trying to be more consistent; at least once a day/20 minutes. Even after 2 days I can tell you that my dandruff has improved, and that the redness reduced. I will continue oil pulling and update.

Re: Oil pulling treatment

CB,

I tried doing it for 40 minutes a day for a couple of months. One 20-minute session, immediately followed by a second 20 minute session with fresh oil. Doubling the time made no difference. Possibley, it would have been more effective if I had done the second session later in the day, instead of back-to-back.

This isn't to say that longer won't help you, as we are all different and respond differently to the same treatments.

UN,

That's great that you are seeing improvement with oil pulling. If you do write about it, here are a few links to give you some more info:

The Solution,

I hope we hear from you again with further progress. I'm glad to read that your dandruff is better. Please keep in touch.

Re: Oil pulling treatment

LivvyLou,

To answer your question on another thread --

Oil pulling is swishing one tablespoon of cold-pressed (or expeller pressed) sunflower oil or untoasted sesame oil around in your mouth and between your teeth for 20 minutes each morning.
This is best done on an empty stomach. After 20 minutes, spit out the oil, brush your teeth and rinse your mouth with warm salt water. This procedure removes bacteria from the mouth (which would otherwise be aborbed into the bloodstream) and may add nutrients, such as essential fatty acids (EFAs), which are absorbed by the mouth tissue.

There are other oils which may also be used, such as coconut oil.

To read more about it, refer to the three links in my post above, post # 2106.

I'm supposed to brush my teeth before and after oil pulling or only after?

Re: Oil pulling treatment

bad news,
ive had to stop my oil pulling for two reasons:
The first is i've got exams and no time, and the second I got Bell's Palsy
I've done some reading previously and another person complained about geting too many cold sores during OP. I did get a cold sore, but then again its winter. What makes me suspecious about the possible connection between the virus and OP, is the fact that recent studies indicate 80% of Bell's Palsy cases are due to the herpes virus. Could it be that my OP with sunflower oil is setting off my virus? Im going to see my doctor and hopefully get some antiviral drugs.

Re: Oil pulling treatment

Solution,

I'm sorry, but I don't have an answer for you -- I don't know anything about Bell's Palsy. If it seems like it occurred when you started OP, you made a good choice to stop. I don't know if OP sets off a virus. I'll ask around on the forums and if I get an answer, I'll post it here.

Solution - wow. exams are stressful too, I wouldn't discount their effect either. I get cold sores when under stress - less so these days tho. hope you are better soon!

Re: Oil pulling treatment

yea, could very well have been the stress. I spoke to my dad who also had Bell`s Palsy when he was younger and was stressed out. In any case, ive made an appointment with my doctor just to be sure about my diagnosis, and maybe find out what she thinks about OP.

Hopefully I can start up again because, now that ive stopped im sure it was helping. You don`t notice a reduction in KP on a day to day basis, but you sure notice when it gets worse.

Re: Oil pulling treatment

OK... I've been doing oil pulling all last week. I notice I've got patches of rejuvenated skin on my neck and face which are different in shades. On the whole it doesn't look freakish or anything. If you know what I mean, part of it look like new skin and part of it look the old that has not rejuvenated yet hmmm... I'm not sure if it the oil pulling or the other things I'm doing but it looking interesting.

Actually, I think the rejuvenated area of my new skin is my normal skin tone when comparing it with the rest of my body... so i think this is looking up to all good things to come.

Re: Oil pulling treatment

O-M,

I would like to think it is the oil pulling that is helping, but you should stick with it for at least 30 days and then make a report back to us. In the meantime, I'm glad you are seeing rejuvenated skin.

Of course, we would be happy to hear from you before 30 days are up.

Re: Oil pulling treatment

SP,

Don't spit your coconut oil down the drain! Or down the toilet. It solidifies when it cools, and you may have plumbing problems.

Here are some options.

Spit outside --- yes, this is what my sister does. She walks out in her lovely back yard full of plants and flowers, digs a little hole, spits and covers it up, to the accompaniment of morning birdsong.

Keep a small jar that you would throw away anyway to spit in. When it is full, screw the lid on tightly and throw it out. This is what I do.

Spit in the kitchen garbage container. This is what my son does. His garbage bags don't leak, a necessary quality for this to work.

Re: Oil pulling treatment

I assume the Dr will laugh or scoff at OP. Or at least might say it's no worse than eating salad with an oil based dressing, eh?
