Wow, how cool are you guys?! You two are not going to believe how white your teeth will get (the best side effect).

I simply cannot wait for your reports. Stick to it for at least one month. But I guarantee you, by then you'll be addicted anyway.

Awesome post. Molly

Thank you

When you come across something that's really good, that really works, you want to share it with everybody. Molly and I were both a little hesitant about sharing this OP information. At the beginning of these posts, only her husband and I had experienced results...just two of us. I'm so glad now that she posted here on the KP forum and suggested I post also. And now that the reports are starting to come in that many of you are experiencing significant results, she and I are so thrilled for all of you.
Molly is right -- stay with it. For me it was 3 weeks. Some of you are reporting results after just days. We are all different. We may respond to different oils and it may take different time periods to see results. But give it a chance.
I think it is important to post results, good or bad. That is the only way we can find out if this works on a large scale. By trying OP, all of you are making a contribution and helping many others who have dealt with KP for years. Thank you to everyone supporting this forum.

DAY 10 - I am convinced that OP is working. My arms are a lot smoother, and the redness comes and goes, but is still about 50% better than it was before I started pulling.
I have also noticed some other weird things! Sorry if this is TMI, but I have noticed that I haven't gotten razor burn at all since Ive started oil pulling! I usually shave my bikini area every few days (I am a swimmer) and get the gross red bumps/ingrown hairs that kind of sting for a day. Since I started OP, they are MUCH more few and far between - has anyone experienced this besides me?
Also, I'm not sure if this is related since I usually have pretty good skin, but my face has been smoother and I've seen a lot less random pimples popping up.
My skin all over just feels a lot better. I hope it's not just in my head! It is winter, and my skin usually gets incredibly dry during winter...so I think this is a very good sign.
I will keep everyone posted!
Good luck!

Today I am three weeks in to this experiment and going strong!!! The KP on my arms is almost entirely gone except for the few little bumps that remain, the KP is entirely gone on my back, belly and chest, and I am still pushing out 'plugs' on my face. And low and behold, today, for the first time, I notice a diffrence in my butt/thighs. It is not gone by any means, but it is improving for sure!! I am also doing Udo's 3*6*9 (I strongly recommend this stuff!!). After seeing him speak and reading his book, I am convinced my diet had major EFA/oil deficiencies and I am a really healthy eater!! Knowledge really is a beautiful gift. Thank you gals and guys for educating me as well!!

I am sending a care package down to my mum and my 92 year old Grama with some oils (sesame and Udo's) because after telling her about my experience, she is really excited to try it. She even went to the health food store to look for the oil (she is NOT a health food store kind of person), but she got confused and left. So I told her I would get the right stuff and ship it to her. I inherited my skin issues from her, so I am hoping she will find as much relief as I have. Once she begins, I'll keep everybody updated about her experiences.

She does have a question that I cannot answer and maybe somebody here can: is it hard to OP with dentures? I *believe* she only has top plates, but Grama has uppers and lowers. Thanks in advance for any help!

Something I have always done is use vitamin E oil as/instead of body moisturizer, however, after reading in one of my ayurvedic books about treating skin conditions with sesame oil, I switched. I can tell that is does work differently (and better). It's just my experience, so take it for what it is worth...maybe 2 cents??? hehe!

a very happy day to all!!

5 days in... Working?

Hi all,

I want to share my results so far... I've been pulling with extra virgin coconut oil for five mornings now, about 3/4-1 tbsp, about 20 minutes each time. In recent weeks, my KP has flared up EXTREMELY badly... I mean, holy cow... it's been pretty decent for the past eight months or so, and out of nowhere, it freaked out and my legs (thighs mainly) were severely inflamed. My butt got bumpy, too, and a few little bumps even sneaked their way up onto the sides of my stomach (horrors! That's the ONLY place on my body where I have perfect skin!).

So after pulling for five days... my butt is 95% smooth, and my legs are a bit of a scabby mess (I picked at them pretty ferociously twice over the past week), but they're basically DRIED UP... there are no new bumps to report, and the picked spots are healing quickly...

I don't know if it's a fluke - I'll keep you posted every several days - but so far, I'm *really* pleased. It's exciting to think we may have stumbled onto something that really works, and is totally natural; at the same time, I'm sure you can relate to not wanting to get *too* excited... in case another letdown occurs.

Thanks so much kebod & Molly Brown for sharing this!

A note on the coconut oil... it's basically a solid in the jar, so I just put a spoonful of solid white stuff in my mouth and melt it by 'chomping' on it and from the heat generated in my mouth... it's pretty gag-worthy, and I always hesitate before putting a huge spoonful of oil in my mouth first thing in the morning (ugh), but once it 'melts', it gets a lot easier. And if it does cure my KP, it's 100% worth it.

No worries ILW. Hey, that is so awesome, welcome to the club! If you are gagging on the coconut oil, consider trying another oil for awhile. I've just had the most amazing luck with Apricot oil that I tried for a month. It was like starting all over again.

We are starting to realize that you should change your oil after a bit. Feel free to experiment. Use one for a couple of months, and then try something new.

Sunshine Girl, I don't know what to say, except that is thrilling!

About dentures, I remember reading that you should remove them when pulling. I think it's on the FAQ on the Oilpulling.com site. This will be great for their overall health, and the soft tissues of the mouth.

Please everyone, lets keep the thread active so that we can let others know about this. Thanks everyone for their continued posts and support.

Molly

Quick question, I know no one on here is a doctor but has anyone seen OP affect any prescription medications they are taking?? Reading about how it works the OP removes toxins, I just thought maybe the medications are removed by it also because that would not be the best thing in my scenario.

I think that one has been asked, and the general consensus was no, it will most likely not effect prescription medicine. However, that being said, unless you are taking meds in the middle of the night, I would suggest you OP first thing in the morning before you take them, when they are at their lowest in your system. And, you should always ask your doctor, even though they might treat you like some alien being or auditioning for a comedy troupe. It's just food, really, so don't worry about it too much.

I will say however, that people that were on meds were able to lower dosages after starting this. Mostly in the area of psychotropics and blood pressure medicine. Someone was able to cut down on dialysis. It's had some amazing testimonials, but I would be remiss to say that it absolutely won't affect meds. And if you are talking about birth control, well I don't even want to go there!!

My best suggestion is to take it slow, very slow, like swish for 5 minutes to start, and check what you need to check.

Good luck. Molly

I may just have to talk to the doctor about this one (and be prepared for the 'you have two heads' look). I usually take my BCP right before bed and its not really a good medication to be 'testing' its effectivness!

medication

Hello Allieh,

Just thought I'd mention.....my husband has been pulling as long as me (I think about 3 weeks now). He has epilepsy & takes medication every night before bed. The OP has not lessened the effect of the medication at all as far as we can tell. In other words, he has not started to have seizures (which happens when he forgets to take his med 2 or 3 nights in a row).

Of course, I'm not a doctor & can't assure you of anything 100%. Just thought I'd let you know of our experience & feeling about it so far.

Best of luck!
DeeDee

Does anyone else experience itching?

Hello All,

I'm new to this site. I developed KP about a year and a half ago (I'm 26) At first it was just on my arms, and smoothed out though I could still see the bumps. Just recently it spread to my back, chest, and now my stomach! But I experienced itching with it as if I could feel it spreading. Has anyone else experienced this?

Welcome Needkphelp!

I will offer what I can...

I, too, was itchy with my KP patches. I think that the two main reasons for me were:

1) I have always had very dry skin...and dry skin itches!!

2) I am going through surgical menopause and have hot flashes and night sweat which lead to perspiration which leads to more itchies.

Really, anytime I'd sweat (working out, summer, etc) I'd end up more red and bumpy.

The OP is helping me beyond belief as is 'moisturizing' with warm sesame oil.

Hope you find relief really soon!

I joined this site about one month ago after being diagnosed with KP. I too had bad itching, and needed some relief. My KP was the most severe on my thighs, and had it on my buttocks and arms as well. After reading all the posts I decided to try the the extra virgin coconut oil and oil pulling. Additionally, I started using Cetaphil cleanser and some moisturizer my dermatologist provided me. At this time, after all the other prescribed medication didn't work, I'm seeing some relief. It's not gone, but my itching has been reduced. I saw my dermatologist yesterday, she never heard of OP but, was curious enough to ask for some info on my next visit thirty days from now. I will update the site as I go along. All I csan at this point is thanks to all, and for those still having problems, keep trying, there is hope.

I've been at this for 2 weeks now, and have experienced *no* results.

I thought it would take some time before seeing my skin improve, but I was looking foward to immediate results in my mouth...whitened teeth, less puffy gums. But nothing of the sort has happened.

Initially I thought it was working, because when I pulled, I experienced alot of rumbling and things "moving around" in my stomach, and thought it was a good sign. But that sensation has stopped over time.

I've been using sesame oil, and just started with sunflower oil. The only thing I can think of is maybe the sunflower oil is actually toasted. I use Hain's.

The one interesting thing that happened is last week when I had to go away for a 4 day conference, I forgot to take oil with me, so I didn't pull for that period of time. As soon as I got home, I got sick. It only lasted for 2 days once I started pulling again.

But other than that, I've been overall discouraged.
