Re: Oil pulling treatment
Idol,
Yes, sunflower oil is fine. It and untoasted sesame are the two recommended oils on Cure Zone's Oil Pulling Forum. This is because this practice originated in India, and those are the two commonly used oils there. Now, many other oils are used, like untoasted walnut, pumpkin seed, flaxseed, olive, and coconut (my personal favorite). I think some have used hemp oil and I even heard of pulling with black radish seed oil. Basically, if oil is edible, and cold-pressed or expeller-pressed, and not toasted, it is OK. Exceptions are corn oil, peanut oil and canola oil. These three are not recommended. Just a reminder to all who have been pulling for over a month -- it is a good idea to change to a different oil once a month. If your teeth are no longer getting as white as they did when you first started, or if you think not as much saliva is being produced when you pull, you need to use a different oil. Happy pulling! ![]() kebod |

Re: Oil pulling treatment
Hello
![]() I have been op for two weeks. In the first week I noticed a runny nose, this week gone I had really bad chapped lips. I will give op two months. In the first month I am using cold pressed sesame oil and in month 2 I wil try coconut oil. About my KP, I do not expect to see results straight away but I think I am beginning to notice very very sligt clear patch or two on my thighes and the backs of my upper arms. I hope this is the op and not just a good KP day I started op for KP but also for teeth whitening, I have not noticed any results as yet. Teeth remain same colour. How long does it ususally take to notice white teeth and does it depend on the oil you use? A quick question for anyone, could anyone recommend a toothpaste which is glycerin free??? |

Re: Oil pulling treatment
Hi Kebod,
I live in Mexico too (Monterrey), and am interested in using OP to get rid of the KP that has affected me for almost 15 years. What kind of coconut oil did you use? I found organic extra virgin coconut oil in my local grocery store, and was wondering if it was good for a start. I have tried several things (Natural Vit A supplements, omega-3 (EPA/DHA), lotions, etc) with little success. The only one that started to work was a french cream with AHAs, named Depi-4 that my dermatologist recommended. Unfortunately, it is no longer sold here, and it would be expensive to have it brought from France. Right now, I use yoghurt or other natural exfoliants, but I suppose they're not strong enough. I rub pure cocoa or shea butter I bought in the US, and although it makes my skin softer, it doesn't get rid of all those bumps. Thanks for providing useful information about the treatment that worked for you. Regards, Irving C. |

Re: Oil pulling treatment
Just a little update. Had to stop my OP after just one day. I have a very sore throat (can swallow or speak). I did get some cream from my pharmacy which I'll be trying until my throat gets better.

Re: Oil pulling treatment
I've been OPing for about a week. My KP is a bit smoother, especially on my arms and thighs (where it was more bumpy/raised). I've been using Hollywood's Safflower Oil, expeller pressed.
I think, however that my teeth are getting yellow! The canines (I think that's their name) are getting more yellow, and my teeth have a yellow tinge all over. YIKES! I'm going to stop and go on to AHA lotions... Unless there is a colorless oil which is kind of unlikely I think. Any suggestions as to that? I would have kept OPing except for the teeth problem. ![]() |

Re: Oil pulling treatment
Also, I rinse with salt (table) water, and then brush my teeth (with fluoride toothpaste). I notice kebod brushes first and then rinses...

Re: Oil pulling treatment
Gangsta,
If you are looking for a glycerin-free toothpaste, read the ingredients in Tom's toothpaste. I don't know if it contains glycerin or not, but check. I like their other body products. Alglez, Hola, Irving. You are so fortunate to have a good quality coconut oil in your local store. It is a very good oil to use for pulling. Have you googled the great health qualities of coconut oil? Eating 1-3 tablespoons a day is recommeneded (not for KP, for overall health). Please keep in touch and let us know if OP helps you. I don't think OP is well known in Mexico, but, poco a poco, more will hear about it. Bernadette, Is your throat better? When I have a sore throat, it usually means a cold is coming on, and I oil pull and salt water gargle all day, until it goes away. Chrissy, Perhaps the type of oil is making your teeth yellow, though that is just a guess. Coconut oil is excellent for whiter teeth -- you may want to switch to it. I haven't used the Hollywood brand of oil, nor have I heard of anyone else here using it. I don't think it really matters that much if you brush or do a salt water rinse first. That's just the way I do it. Zemanely, Any edible oil is good for oil pulling, except corn, canola and peanut. The best oils are organic and cold-pressed or expeller-pressed, but if you can't find them, regular cooking oil is OK. Scroll back up and read my post # 1816 for more oil info. I hope it helps you. Sorry I haven't posted too often lately. I'm visiting family and it isn't always easy to have computer time. I'll be back home July 2, and then I can devote more time to the Forum. Meanwhile, keep on pulling. It can only help. kebod |

Re: Oil pulling treatment
Hi Kebod,
Thanx, my throat feels much better. I'll be starting again with my OP tonight. I couldn't op with my sore throat as it was too sore even to open my mouth. My glands in my neck were so swollen, it looked like ping pong balls!!

Re: Oil pulling treatment
I picked up some walnut oil - it's all I've been able to get hold of.
I don't know if it's toasted or untoasted; it doesn't say on the label. I plan to start tomorrow and I have taken some 'before' pictures. I'll keep an online record and will post everything after a couple of months. |

Re: Oil pulling treatment
SCW,
If your walnut oil is untoasted, it will be light in color. For me, it took 21 days to see results, with KP lessening greatly. I don't think there is a set time for how long you need to wait to see a change, but I hope you give OP at least 30 days. Please keep in touch and let us know if it helps. I hope you see good results. kebod |

Re: Oil pulling treatment
Thanks Kebod =]
Day 1 Oil pulled with one tablespoon of walnut oil for twenty minutes. My gag reflex was incredibly hard to resist – the heavy oily feeling in my mouth was horrible. The reflex lessened after about five minutes. Think I may have swallowed a tiny amount of the oil during pulling. I washed out my mouth with salt water afterwards, which nearly made me throw up. Drank one glass of water to finish. Notice no changes. |

Re: Oil pulling treatment
Hello everyone.
I had been op everyday for nearly three weeks and I did not notice a difference but when I missed op in these last three days and I noticed the bumps were raising up again. So what I mean to say is, if I op consistently for a longer period it will help. The sides of my thighes were clearing up, near my hips but the front is stubborn kp, if i keep it up I am confident it will work. Having said that, I have been attending the gym and sitting in the sauna for 20 minutes evry other day. It could be that. Alongside this I will apply bio oil topically. Does anyon know if it clogs pores? Can anyone suggest a moisturiser that does not clog pores??? A question: I started taking omega 3 6 9 oil supplement yesterday, dosage is one a day with or after a meal. I purchased it from holland and barrett health shop here in the UK. I am vegetarian will they be as effective? It is brand called Vertese Gelatin Free Omega Oils 3+6+9 500mg 60 capsules What omega 3 6 9 supplements would you recommend? Another supplement I want to give a go is Holland and Barrett - Product details for Aloe Vera Colon Cleanse as sometimes food not passing well could leed to toxins building up inside and this affecting the skin. Should i try this? |
