If it stays thick, perhaps you want to consider changing to a different type of oil. My coconut oil is always liquid. I haven't heard of any that was not liquid above 74 degrees. I hope it is not hydrogenated (not sure if the spelling is right -- but it is when oil is processed to keep it thick at room temp., like margarine and veg. shortening.) If it stays thick and white above 74 degrees, you don't want to use it.

Even though the coconut oil is solid in the jar, your body temperature should be enough to melt it once it's in your mouth. ;-) However, coconut oil may be a little too viscous for those of us with a strong gag reflex!

new here!
I thought I'd give this a try...nothing to lose except the 5 bucks spent on the oil! I am on day two and I can't really see any results yet... but I will keep trying. I am very hopeful and optimistic and I wish I can come back to say that my kp is actually gone!
Has anyone tried this for a while and seen no results?? It seems like there are overwhelmingly positive responses and I don't want to get my hopes up TOO much. I will keep everyone posted!! I am your next lab rat! |

Hey giggleychick...I've been doing this for at least a week. And I'm not sure if I'm seeing results or not. I **think** that the bumps are reducing. But I won't be sure until they're completely gone!

How fast have people seen results with the redness of KP (not the actual bumpyness)?

Well, that's a mystery really. I have no idea about my husbands, as we finally noticed it 7 months after he started OPing. It could have been anytime. His was very red and bumpy. Kebod, I remember saying her's was more bumpy and not so red. My son is very bumpy and red and covers his entire legs and from shoulder to elbow. He's 15, and it's hard to keep him on track, if you know what I mean? His bumpy-ness is starting to recede, after doing this about 5 days a week, for about 4 weeks. But the redness is still there. But if he has any changes, I'll be sure to let you know as soon as I do. He's pure, as he doesn't do one thing to his skin, except to shower (He's a 15 year old boy, who could care less!) I do make him take a bath as much as possible with Epsom Salts and some essential oils like Lavender and Rose Hip Oil though.
So, he's definitely our little experiment. Ha, don't I sound like some crazy Mom? Peace, from Mom Molly |

Hi everyone!
I just joined today, but I've been lurking for awhile now. Just wanted to thank Kebod and Molly for bringing Oil Pulling to our attention. I have KP on the backs of my arms and upper back. I noticed the bumps on the upper back about 3 years ago (though I think they were there during my late teens, I'm in my early 20's now) but didn't think much of it as I rarely wore anything that showed the back. It was only 2 years ago that I noticed the bumps migrate to the backs of my arms that I really became aware of how unsightly it was. Still though I didn't use any lotions etc to get rid of the bumps as winter was fast approaching and forgot about it. Anyways about a month ago I had a good look at the bumps (now that summer is once again approaching) and noticed that the bumps were moving towards my fore arms (lower arms) which wouldn't be so easy to hide! And finally decided to do something to stop the bumps duplicating all over the place. However, something that I noticed was that the bumps on the upper arms were considerably less red and not as inflamed as it was 2 years ago, same with the back. I've read that KP gets better with age, so I'm hoping that's true. Anyways I thought I'd give my feed back on oil pulling, especially for someone who hasn't used anything other than Nivea body lotion on the bumps before. I've been doing oil pulling now for the past 3 weeks using Sunflower oil, 15-20 minutes each morning before brushing the teeth. I’ve also been using Coconut Oil (I’m pretty sure it’s not EVCO…the container says “pure coconut oil” which I bought at the local Asian food store that’s supposed to be used as Hair oil. I’ve been using the coconut oil on my arms every night before going to bed on dry skin, because I can’t be bothered doing it in the shower! It seems to me it’d be too messy. LOL My results after 3 weeks of doing this everyday; Coconut Oil Results -Within a few days the bumps were flat and skin was very smooth. -The redness appears to be turning into a brown. Could this be like a wound healing? -Fore arms bumps are completely gone and smooth. However, where the bumps were there’s a brown mark. I’m hoping like wounds, with time this will heal. Nevertheless now that there aren’t any bumps it’d be easier to cover with makeup/sunless tanner. I’ve tried it with make up and it looks really good! -Upper arm bumps are very smooth with brown marks. Still have a few newer red bumps though. Oil Pulling Results -Whiter teeth -Guns feel stronger, and less bleeding when flossing/brushing -Back/neck pain gone. After using the computer for long hours my neck would ache, but that seems to be totally gone! I really do have to put this down as doing the oil pulling, because I still sit the same way as I did before starting OP. And when I missed one day of OP I did notice that my neck was much more sore. My “control” skin is the back, where I’ve just relied on the oil pulling. Though the skin is much smoother, and the bumps do seem to be decreasing, along with becoming brown it’s taking a lot more time to see the results as seen with the arms. I’ve read on these forums that the arms have been clearing first before any other part of the body, so with time hopefully I see better results. However, one thing that I did notice is that when new bumps do appear, within a few days they dry out and disappear, leaving just the brown mark. Is this a combination of the oil pulling and coconut oil? I’m not sure, but I’ve only seen it happening on my arms. There doesn’t seem to be any new bumps on the back. After doing this for three weeks, I’ve decided to try Palmer's Skin Success® Eventone® Fade Cream to help fade the brown marks. It contains Vitamins C & E, Alpha Hydroxy & Sunscreen. I’m trying it mainly because another thread had someone who had success using Alpha Hydroxy lotions. I’m hoping it’s help fade the brown marks. Sorry for the LONG post. I just wanted to share my story in hopes it’ll help someone else. My advise is to do use coconut oil topically while also doing Oil Pulling. Good Luck! |

Hey guys!
DAY FOUR - I am seeing improvement!!! My arms feel noticably smoother and the redness seems to be fading and retreating. It's hard to say if this is only because of the oil pulling because I do have good days and bad days. But this is definitely a good day! And if it stays that way and/or gets better, I can be sure oil pulling is working. Will keep you posted, as promised! =) |

Sugar Fairy...Fantastic...good for you!
All those other side effects of pulling are right on. Those are the first things most people notice. I especially like how it stops gums from bleeding anymore. Tooth sensitivity decreases dramatically. Great post, very thorough. I love when people give detailed descriptions. Keep us updated! Molly |

neck pain gone for me, too!
Hi Sugar fairy,
I had not realized my neck pain was no longer until I read your post. I spend a lot of hours on the computer doing proof reading. Somedays my neck would be so sore. Now I can't remember how many weeks (months?) since it last became sore. (I have been pulling for 14 weeks.) I wonder how many other little things are changing for the better, and I haven't realized it yet. Your "control" area is a good idea. I will be interested in hearing how this goes. I achieved 99% healing (I still have the occasional bump appear) with only oil pulling. I'm still hoping it will heal completely, but I'm happy with the results so far. Keep us posted. kebod |

Hey Guys!
Just wanted to touch base with everyone on my progress. I've been pulling for 2 weeks with organic sesame oil. So far, as with a lot of you folks, my arms have shown the most improvement. Interestingly, my right arm is still smoother than the left. The left has shown lots of improvement too, but it's still not silky smooth like the right. There were a few days when my legs seemed a lot smoother than usual, but they seem to have reverted back to their original bumpy state unfortunately. I did have a talk with my dentist about oil pulling. It was the first he had ever heard of the practice but he said that the claims of helping loose teeth become tighter, red & bleeding gums changing to pink & healthy, teeth becoming whiter, mouth feeling fresh & clean, make perfect sense - as in his opinion as a dentist, swishing oil in the mouth will in fact rid the mouth of harmful bacteria. As a matter of fact, he said that listerine is actually comprised of several different oils held together by alcohol. And if one were to use straight, pure oil as in the case with "oil pulling", he doesn't doubt it's ability to go further & help more than just "mouth issues" He believes that the fact that this practice has existed in India for thousands of years (whereas oral hygiene as we know it today has only been around for a few generations) is a good indication that oil pulling is an "old school" way for people to have kept a clean mouth when there was no other means to do so. Also, as many of us are already aware, we (humans as opposed to animals) are the only creatures obsessed with constant shampooing & cleansing in general. The oils we so regularly wash from our scalps & our skin are there for a reason. It's a healthy, protective coating that wasn't meant to be whisked away so frequently as we as a culture tend to do. OIL IS GOOD although it has developed a bad reputation in regard to skin & hair. Oil pulling is likely "oiling" our bodies from the inside out, and potentially supplying an essential fatty acid that is low or missing in your diet. My best to everyone....hoping you all continue (or start) to see improvement! ![]() |

Excellent post
Dee Dee, you have no idea how right you are. For some reason, the body does absorb the oil when we are pulling. It might not be such a bad thing to actually take oil on top of this. Have you ever heard of Udo's Oil?
http://www.udoerasmus.com/articles/udo/fthftk3.htm Way too expensive to swish with, because it is meant to be eaten. Very interesting theory about fats (Omega 3'a and 6's). This is why I pull with Hemp Oil when I come from from work, because of the perfect balance. And wow, a dentist that "get's it". That's pretty rare, really. Most just mock you. Would you mind re-posting that at the oil pulling forum? It is here: http://curezone.com/forums/f.asp?f=738 I'd like to see this in the recommended messages. If you don't want to, no worries! Thank you so much for that exceptional post. Molly |
