Re: Cured at last with oil pulling

I agree with you that one explanation for how OP works is the absorption of EFAs (essential fatty acids). The other way it probably works is that oil pulling removes bacteria from the mouth, a major source of bacteria for the body, as oral bacteria is absorbed into the blood stream. Medical science has made a connection between oral plaque and diabetes, heart disease, and possibly other diseases. By having less bacteria in the mouth, we introduce less to the body that our liver has to deal with, thereby leaving it free to cleanse other bacterias and toxins.

Re: Cured at last with oil pulling

  1. Take a big cooking pot, bowl or saucepan and add some water. Heat the water and then put the coconut bottle inside the water. (Check it is completely sealed before putting it in the water).
  2. Then wait until it turns clear.
  3. Keep it in a warm place.
Another alternative is to swish it solid, it will liquefy in your mouth.

Re: Cured at last with oil pulling

Mupetcina,

I still have a few bumps and a little redness. My KP was always mild. Staying tanned and rubbing lotion on my upper arms helps.
You can oil pull and use sea buckthorn products at the same time. OP doesn't interfere with anything (except talking ). It might even help with other methods and products because of its cleansing effect.

Canuck,

You have the right idea about how to do oil pulling and you have the right oil, though it is a little pricey.

Let us know if you try OP and if it helps. Good luck to both of you.

Re: Cured at last with oil pulling

After 3 weeks of oil pulling, my bumps lessened by about 90%. We may each react differently and take different lengths of time to respond to OP. Clearing up my Kp is just one of many benefits I have had from OP.

Re: Cured at last with oil pulling

hey kebod and everyone,
so I took about a three week break from OP because of vacation and work travel and stuff (and just being lazy!), thus my KP has worsened, so do you think it'll take the full 3 weeks or will it clear up faster since I had been OPing for over a month before I stopped? Thanks!
Also, I bought some coconut oil, but there were several different kinds at the organic store. I bought Virgin Coconut Oil, expeller-pressed, unrefined.. Is this alright? And I will OP with it at night in addition to my morning with sunflower oil, but can you tell me more about rubbing it on your skin? I think I've read that people use it topically, but can you explain how much, how often or if you use the same oil for both OP and as a cream? Any info would be appreciated! Thanks!

Re: Cured at last with oil pulling

Hi There,

I am about to being Oil Pulling, and l bought Sunflower Oil. How do I know if I bought the correct kind to use? No where on the bottle does it say Refined or Unrefined. Should I assume it is refined if it does not state it (You need refined for Oil Pulling correct, or do I have it backwards?)

Re: Cured at last with oil pulling

Oleander,

In India, where oil pulling began, they say to use refined. American (Western) oil pullers think that unrefined is best because it has more nutrients in it. Most likely, if your oil doesn't say Unrefined, it is Refined. Other words to look for on the label are Organic, Cold-Pressed or Expeller-Pressed. These oils are available at natural food stores and health food stores. If they don't carry them, ask the store to order them. If you can't get oils with these descriptions at all, refined oil from a regular grocery store is better than not doing oil pulling at all. Avoid toasted seseame seed oil, corn oil, peanut oil and canola oil.

Re: Cured at last with oil pulling

Kristen,

It is hard to say how long it will take for your skin to get back to where it was, because we are all different. I hope you have started OP again, and are starting to see results.

The coconut oil you bought is good to use for OP and on your skin. Did you read my recipe at the beginning of this thread for body/face lotion. It is easy to make and is absorbed very well. If you put pure coconut oil on your skin, do it after a shower when your skin is damp and use as little as you can.
