Re: Cured at last with oil pulling

Wow, misslala!

It never occurred to me that this may be the KP combination: two pulls, one with coconut and one with a second oil. Right now, avocado is my second oil, though I have used sesame, olive oil and untoasted walnut oil (yummy). For now, it may be a back-to-back two-pull club of just you and me, but I'm so glad to hear this is helping you.

I'm also having great results with the remaining bumps on my arms by rubbing in my home made coconut oil lotion. In just a few days, my skin looks so much better. I never paid that much attention to the redness -- really, I didn't stand side-ways to look at my arms in the mirror, but I do have slight redness and that is greatly diminished just in the one week I have been applying my lotion to my arms.

Re: Cured at last with oil pulling

I picked up some oils yesterday, Sesame and Coconut.
The oil in mouth sensation is something I'll have to get used to, and the clock moving extra slow didn't help any.
I plan on using sesame for the rest of the week, then adding the coconut in next week.

Re: Cured at last with oil pulling

Tom,

The oil sensation can take some getting used to, but if you stay with OP, it will become very normal. Those darn clocks sure do slow down when you watch them, don't they?

If you find something to do while you pull, like take a shower, do email, wash the dishes, the time will be up before you know it.

I hope you are using untoasted sesame. Please post again and let us know if OP helped you, but give it at least a month. If nothing, else, your teeth should be whiter.

Re: Cured at last with oil pulling

Well, Nateo, it you don't have time for oil pulling, check out some of the other threads/discussions on this forum. This thread is primarily about oil pulling.

Read as much as you can on other threads and then try some of the suggested remedies. What works for one, doesn't work for all, so you will have to experiement. I wish you luck in finding a remedy that works for you.

Re: Cured at last with oil pulling

I have been oil pulling twice a day for the last month. I really enjoy it. It is almost meditative. I am using coconut, almond and sesame oils. My question is about the coconut oil. I have been spitting it down the toilet, but am worried about the damage it could cause in winter when it solidifies. Any thoughts? Is there a better way for me to dispose of it?
By the way my KP has gone. I really tried this method to help my 12 year old son, who has KP. He has braces on his teeth though and I don't want him to try this till he gets them off in another year.

Re: Cured at last with oil pulling

Hi Sig,

I find oil pulling meditative, also. It is an opportunity to have a quiet time with yourself before the busyness of the day starts.

I think it is not a good idea to spit coconut oil down the toilet if it is cold enough to harden. I used to spit it down the toilet, but once winter started, I have a new procedure. I recycle small plastic bags -- the kind you get at the grocery store when you buy produce -- spit in the bag, tie it up, and put it in the garbage. My even more environmentally conscious sister doesn't want to use plastic bags, not even recycled ones. She steps outside -- they have a large rural lot -- digs a little hole, spits in the hole and covers it up. When I stay with her, I follow her practice, and it is actually kind of nice to be outside early in the morning, listening to the birds, while I complete my OP procedure.

Is your KP gone because of oil pulling? If so, I would like to know for how long you pulled before your KP lessened and what kind of oil you were using at the time, also for how many minutes you pull.

It is OK to oil pull with braces. If anything, the extra tooth whitening will leave marks where the braces covered the surface and whitening didn't happen in those areas. But OP after the braces are removed soon gets all the surface evenly white. Children as young as 5 oil pull in India, the origin of this Aurvedic practice.

Re: Cured at last with oil pulling

Thanks, Kebod.
I will try the bag system. It is summer here at the moment so the oil is liquid.
I am sure the OP has been what has helped my KP. My KP was never a bad case, but my skin feels so smooth now, I keep touching it to make sure. I have been OPing for about 3 weeks. I do 20 minutes twice a day. Once when I get up, and again before I go to bed. I started using Coconut Oil alone, and now I use Coconut once and sesame the other time. Sometimes Almond, which my husband has been OPing with.
I am nervous about OPing with the braces. What if his teeth look terrible when he gets his braces removed, and it takes a long time to get them an even colour again?

Re: Cured at last with oil pulling

I'm so happy to hear that it is oil pulling you think helped your KP. It took me 3 weeks, also, to see a difference. And my KP was mild, also. And I, too, kept feeling my skin after I started OP. I wasn't used to how smooth and soft it felt. I love it!

On the Curezone Oil Pulling Forum, people with braces oil pull. Only one or two times of oil pulling evens out the color. I notice if I don't use coconut oil one day, my teeth don't look as white, but the next day, with coconut oil, they are super white again. It happens quickly.

Here is the Curezone Oil Pulling Forum if you want to ask there:

Re: Cured at last with oil pulling

I've been OP with a half a TBS for about 3 weeks, and I already listed all of the benefits I got, but I moved up to a TBS yesterday, and I have to say, more is better. It cleans out my mouth/teeth a lot better then 1/2 TBS. I also moved it up to twice a day instead of once. I'm already noticing further whitening of my teeth.

Re: Cured at last with oil pulling

Can I ask those who saw improvement at about 3 weeks if it was a slight improvement or did you mean that your KP was gone? I've been OPing for over 3 weeks and have noticed my skin is softer however, at the same time I started I also started with Apple Cidar Vinegar, different lotion and taking supplements so I don't know why it is softer. My bumps seem to be SLOWLY going away but the redness remains. Is it just me or do they look like little holes?
Also, do the effects of OPing for 3 weeks go away if you skip a couple of days? I've had to start work really early this week and have missed it and now I'm worried I've ruined all my hard work.
I'm also sure I read it somewhere but aren't you meant to OP only in the morning? Does it still work at night?
Sorry for all the questions guys. Good luck to everyone still trying :]

Re: Cured at last with oil pulling

lillow,

My KP lessened by 90-95% all at once, on the 21st. day of oil pulling. My upper arm skin became drier feeling, and after a few day, a dry, crusty layer of skin washed off in the shower, leaving smoother skin underneath. This isn't too say it will be the same for everyone -- we are all different. I didn't try any other remedies at the same time, so I know it was OP that did it.

Don't worry if you skip a couple of days. You won't lose what you have gained. OP works at night. It works anytime of the day. But some who OP late in the evening have a hard time falling asleep because it makes them energetic. Why don't you try it one evening, like a Friday or Saturday evening when you can sleep in if it keeps you up for a while? Another option is to do it when you come home from work and before you eat dinner.

I hope OP helps you. Please keep in touch with us.

Re: Cured at last with oil pulling

Hi Lillow,

Your question about 'Is it just me or do they look like little holes?' is a good question. I was wondering the same thing. When I look at the redness (my skin feels smooth, just redness), I too see those little holes. Weird heuh?
