Natural Exfoliation: Soft skin!

Hello everyone,

This is my first post. I'm 24 years old and have had KP since birth (although, I was misdiagnosed as having eczema). All my life I have dealt with red arms and legs, rough to the touch. People always ask me if I have sunburn (particularly embarrassing in the winter).

I have stumbled upon a routine that makes my skin soft and suple (but doesn't help too much with the redness). I've only recently discovered that I have KP (and not eczema), so I'm excited to share this with you all!

A simple, homemade exfoliator can really reduce the bumps.

Find a stout jar or cup and fill it halfway with refined white sugar.

Pour olive oil over the sugar until the sugar is just saturated. If your skin is extra dry, keep adding oil until the mixture is soupy.

After washing your skin with a very mild soap in the shower or bath, use the exfoliator you have made! The sugar will remove dead skin cells and disintegrate, then the oil will seep in, making the water bead off your skin.

In the summer, this is all I need for moisturizing. In the colder months, I use cetaphil as soon as I am finished showering (and my skin is still damp).

I repeat this process every other day and try not to use water that is too hot in the shower.

Try your own combination of sugar & olive oil! It's such a relief to the skin. I hope it works for you!

: )

Re: Natural Exfoliation: Soft skin!

this is what i do for my kp. Use a dry washcloth/rag (the rougher the better) and rub all of your kp areas (for me thats my thighs and arms) very firmly for about 3 mins then get in the shower and use very mild bodysoap. remember rub from the top to the bottom ( face to the thigh never thigh to the face).
