Unhappy im new, advice please?

You don't understand how much this website has helped.
I've had KP since i can remember but i never knew what it was. It wasn't until yesterday while i was reading company it said about it, so i googled it. and taadaa.

Im female, and im 15 and i do alot of music and drama.

the thing is, im really self concious over my kp, my bestfriend says you cant even notice it. but im not happy with myself, so it makes me unhappy.

i read on here that its less common to have it on your face, but thats where its most noticable on me. i also have it on the top of my arms and thighs. its not red, but its still noticable.

i showed my mum this website, but she sort of just ummed and ahhed. and dismissed it.

i just needed to tell someone, anyone. it reasurres me to know that other people how the same thing. i needed o get it off my chest sort of thing.

any advice on how i can reduce it by myself, or get my mum to be a bit more supportive would be my appreciated.

Re: im new, advice please?

You have to talk to her expressing how important this is for you. I understand you, for most of people this is just a skin problem, something superficial and like they dont have it just dismiss it. But for a mom all her chldren problems are her problems right now she just thinks is one of your adolescents insecurities like the issues with your hair or a party.
Find the moment and tell her, ok its bumps but in several parts of my body and really affect my confidence, is not a temporary problem thats why many people is worried about it like in this page i was checking and i feel identified with them. Its a place where i can talk with others with the same condition. Theres several treatments to help, would you help me on this?.
Ask her to read the frequent questions, like that she will have the basic information, im sure once she understand will suport you, and this community is for that also.
Im connected almost everyday, we can talk.

Re: im new, advice please?

Hi Bondette,

Welcome to the KP Forum. Leah gave you some good advice about talking to your Mom. I hope you can talk to her about it.

I guess I thought that KP was common on the face. Before I got mine under control, I always had it along my jaws.

We are our own worst critics. Something we think is a blemish, someone else never even notices. I hope you are successful finding something to help diminish your KP, but until then, remember that you may be the only one seeing your spots.

You can read my "signature" below my post to see the different treatments I do to keep KP away.

My treatment: Oil pulling daily; candida diet (minimum of carbs, no sugars); omega-3 from canned salmon and sardines; sun exposure 10-15 minutes, 3 days a week, without sunblock; program to strengthen immune system; probiotic supplements; lots of water; moderate daily exercise; exfoliation with epsom salts and sugar several times a week. KP reduced 99%. If I go "off diet" -- grains, sugars, etc. -- or stop oil pulling, KP returns.

Re: im new, advice please?

I've been to the dermatologists many times, and sad to say, nothing has worked for me. But i've just learned to cover it up on my face, and you can't even notice it. I'm 17, and i've had it as long as i can remember too. My mom wasn't very supportive either, and wouldn't really help me and dismissed everything I said. On my arms and legs, I just go in the sun a lot, and that helps clear it out. In the winter it gets really awful, and I usually wear long sleeves always, because people will stare and make rude comments. Or sometimes, even though it sounds dumb, I put make up on my arms. It works, and makes me feel better. I made a blog on how i cover up the keratosis on my face. Here is the blog >>> The ShiZniT <<<
