Hey i'm Simone,
I'm 13 and i've had KP for as long as i can remember, and just recently i decide to do research on it. So i found this site which is totally great! One of the biggest things that gets on my nerves about having KP is when people at school ask about it. And usually they're not nice, "what's wrong with your arms?" and "Are the bumbs on your arms contagious?" I hate it!!!!! Its so annoying! I really think schools should educate students about more common skin disorders. Anyways, i was flipping through a recent magazine when i came across an ad for Dermadoctor KP duty products and i was wondering if anybody else has tried it and if it worked. Please let me know cuz i dont want my mum to buy it if it wont work. Also can someone tell me if oil pulling worked for them, if its safe for teens, and what kind of oil i should use? Thanks! xoxo Simone ![]() |

Re: New On Here w/ a Q About Treatments =)
BKS,
Welcome to the KP Forum. I'm sure you will find some good ideas here that can help you. To find out if anyone else here has discussed Dermadoctor KP Duty, go to Search at the top of the page and type in those words. Specify thread or post (post is more helpful). I hope you find your answer there. Oil pulling reduced my KP by 85-90%, but it doesn't help everyone, just like most of the other products and methods here. What works for one doesn't necessarily help everyone else. Maybe because there may be different causes for KP. Anyway, you wont' know unless you try it. If you do try oil pulling, give it at lease 30 days. (Any new product or method should be given 30 days or more to see if it helps.) OP is absolutely safe for teens. Children as young as 5 do it in India (where it originated). Recommended oils are sunflower, untoasted sesame and coconut. You can buy these at most natural food stores or health food stores. Look for oils that are organic, and either expeller-pressed or cold-pressed. Please keep in touch with us and let us know what you try and if it helps. kebod |

Re: New On Here w/ a Q About Treatments =)
Hey doll - we're just around the same age haha. I know that KP + school = sucksss. I used to get asked about it alot, especially the contagious one. I never really had nice remarks to say back to them, and I regret doing so because they just didn't know and it was my own insecurity showing through. As kebod said, each person is unique, and each treatment is different for each person. Personally, mine showed up after I stopped taking fishoil + vitamins. Sometimes KP comes with weight gain but doesn't necessarily go away once you do lose weight. You can treat your KP with anything from Urea to OPing. I'd really reccomend taking a look around here to find what's best for you - welcome to the forums + stay strong hun.
