i have kp on my arms, back of my thighs, and some of my bum @_@ EW I've had it since i was maybe 12 or 13 and i'm 15 now. My detmatologist perscribed me Salex cream (6% salicylic acid) and i don't use it much because i always forget. Does any one else use this? Does it work ever?? thx! caitie |

Hi Caitie,
Welcome to the KP Forum. I have never tried Salex cream, so I can't answer your question, but I hope some one on this forum will respond and give you more information. kebod |

Re: new person and Q about salex cream?
Just try using it for a few weeks(without forgetting), otherwards you might never find out. Different stuff works on different people :P...but if you want to get all scientific and stuff.
Basically what that cream will do, or does...is over time it softens the keratin in the skin, which in turn helps reduce the bumps. also the acid over time might peel the top layer of the skin where you applied the cream revealing a nicer, "younger" layer of skin . Anyway when it is used in high % it is called a chemical peel. Just search the forum for more info, i know missliss25 has posted some stuff regarding the issue.-Nick |

Re: new person and Q about salex cream?
Hello,
I tried the Salex cream as prescribed by my dermetologist... It helped to reduce the bumps probably 40%, but stopped working after three weeks or so.. I might try something stronger.. hope I helped! |

Re: new person and Q about salex cream?
I use the salex cream every night after i shower. I have KP medium-severe on my upper arms. It improved my bumps greatly (although many remain), but did not improve the redness. Hope yours works as well. (i'm looking into laser to get rid of the redness.)
