Hello everyone, My name is Kameron and I'm 16.I live in Tennessee. I have been suffering from KP all my life. I came here to find other teens with the same struggles and talk to them about how to deal with it. My arms are really bad and i hate it i don't know what else to do because i have tried everything. My face is also really red and when i work out everyone always asks me if i am okay because my face is so red. My boyfriend always says he loves my arm but i have an insecurity about them and he don't understand how i feel.

Please help me through what i am going through and ill help yall

No my kp doesnt affect my social life.yes i am inscure of it but people have asked me about it but i tell em the truth. I have kp on my arms and my boyfriend just loves my arms. My friends dont have a problem with it at all. They know its apart of me and they dont worry about it. It does make me feel bad if one of them say something about it but they arent going to stop being my friend because of something i have on my arms. I hope this helps. I know what you mean about being afraid to wear shorts during the summer. i used to be afraid to wear short sleeves because i have kp on my arms. But over the last few months i have realized no one is perfect and everyone has something they dont like about their body and not everyone can cover their's up. I know when i was in 8th grade every one used to ask me if i was cold because it looked like i had goosebumps on my arms when it was actually kp. When people ask me about what i have i tell em. I've had it since i was born and its Keratosis Pilaris. I'm not afraid to tell em anymore because i know its something i have to live with. and if you dont want to go to straight shorts take it slow... Start with kaprees and then go to long shorts and then you could work you way up. After a little while it won't bother you anymore and having friends that have kp to talk to about this stuff helps alot! if you have anymore questions or just need a friend you can always private message me

Thanks for the advice, I do try to wear capris sometimes, and even skirts, but nothing ever above the knees. Girls at my school are always like "Oh I hate my knees, Oh my legs are fat" but I just think "Yeah right, take a look at mine!" And the thing is, I always notice other people's legs and I just keep thinking, I wish I had better skin. It's such a horrible outlook but I can't help it. I know I have to deal with it, probably for the rest of my life. Oh yeah, it looks like my legs have goosebumps on them all the time too but I think my thighs and knees look the worse. Maybe you're right, maybe if I start wearing shorts and people get used to the idea, it'll be okay. Thanks again!
