Re: what is oil pulling?
oil pulling is very effective at clearing keratosis pilaris.what you do is get some oil(olive, sunflower etc) and put some in a teasoon and swish it in ur mouth for ten minuites like listerine.repeat straight after for another 10 minuites then brush your teeth.do this 2 or 3 times a day and u should be kp free in like 2 months.
p.s i done this and it worked |

Re: what is oil pulling?
Sam, it sounds like oil pulling helped clear up your KP. Great! The recommended protocol is to swish (move slowly) one tablespoon of oil around in your mouth for 20 minutes. Then brush your teeth, rinse with warm salt water and drink 1-2 glasses of water. Doing it twice for 10 minutes each is great also.
For how long did you OP before you noticed your KP was better? What kind of oil do you use? kebod |

Do you have to oil pull forever or can you stop when it gets better?

Re: what is oil pulling?
Oil pulling isn't a cure -- it is a treatment. So as long as you have KP, you have to do oil pulling, if it can help you. If I stop oil pulling (OP), my KP comes back. But I have so many other benefits from it -- whiter teeth, healthier gums, more energy, softer skin, less facial wrinkles -- that I would never stop doing OP, even if my KP completely ended for good.

Re: what is oil pulling?
And you have to do it every single day? What happens if you miss a day or do it every other day? I really want to try it but I don't know if I could do it every day.

Re: what is oil pulling?
If you miss a day every now and then...say once a week...no problem. If you are going to do it only every other day, I don't know if you will have success with OP or not. Let us know if you decide to try it.

Re: what is oil pulling?
I think you really need to try it for a month to give it a chance to work. I have been OPing for 5 months, and I love it. I will never stop OPing now. My husband and son do it too. It is an important part of our daily ritual.

Re: what is oil pulling?
Since there is no research to answer your question, we can only hypothesize about how it works. I think that essential fatty acids, like omega 3, are absorbed sublingually, under the tongue and through the mucous membrane of the mouth. Omega 3 supplements seem to cause clearer skin for some.
Another way it may help is by removing oral bacteria. Our mouths are really full of a lot of bacteria, some of it absorbed into blood vessels, which circulate through our bodies. Perhaps by decreasing the bacterial load on the body, the skin, which is a huge cleansing organ, will have less eruptions of all types in its efforts to rid the body of bacteria and its toxins. This is just my opinion, and I don't have a medical background, but I have been pulling for two years and can say without a doubt that my skin is clearer, my KP has reduced by 85-90%, and my over-all health has improved noticeably. Oil pulling is the single best thing I have every done for my health. kebod |
