I'm 19 and I live in GA during the schoolyear and it can get pretty hot... I usually don't wear shorts anyway though--i often wear lose cutoffs or lightweight skirts that come almost to the knee because I have really bad KP on my thighs. You could try a self-tanner and see if that camoflauges it some.

Sorry I can't help that much. :\

I'm 17. I wear short sleeves all the time. The KP isn't obvious on my arms, since they're tanned, and are pretty much smooth...But my legs aren't as tan, so even though they're smooth, the brown dots are very obvious... I would say that tanning helps a lot...but I heard it's not good for you...the tan on my arms is an accident, anyways.

Unhappy

I am 18 and have had it since i was freakin 3 years old. They need to find a damn cure.

I eat healthy as hell, scrub like crazy, clean my sheets, changed detergents, and it still won't go the **** away.

Mine looks like a patch of zits, along with redness. I have it horrible it covers my upper arm completely it is so embarassing. My thighs have it too but they are thousands of white bumps where each pore is, and completely smooth.

KP sucks

Hey,
I have had KP all through my teens, I am 21 now. I live in Australia, so it's too hot not to wear short sleeves. The worst thing you can do is pop the lumps, they leave horrible little scars. I used to do it all the time, so I have lots of them! Very bad idea! To cover up, get a little sun on your arms each day, and try gently scrubbing the affected areas daily and mousturising. A tan can def cover them slightly, or even a concealer that is one shade lighter than your skin tone.
Lots of people have it, so don't stress too much, and it goes away with age.
Good Luck!
Em

Heya,
theres no quick fix otherwise we wouldnt all be here. but i live on the coast where it gets humid & hot and the only thing that kinda works for me is tanning. Im not saying go to a tanning salon, because i spoke to my dermatologist & he said tanning salons are even worse than the actual sun. So for me, i just try to spend some time in the sun every day. If i get wrinkles, i'll get botox at least my KP wont look so bad!

I live in Australia too..it's horrible, I envy everyone with clear smooth arms being able to wear singlets..I don't really show my arms much during the day, however when I go out at night if i wear short sleeves I use a type of concealer, it's called 'dermablend' I mix it with a bit of moisturiser because it's quite think and apply it to my arms..it covers the red spots and the scars i have from picking..it really makes me more confident..but I still can't get the nerve to wear short sleeves during the day..

You should definintely try one of those gradual tan lotions although they might make it worse. Every brand but Jergens just made the red dots on my arms stand out more.

You might still out grow it. I used to have KP really bad on my upper arms and the non-red KP on my face, but now both are almost gone and I'm 17.

rubra faceii

Hi, I have rubra faceii and it sucks beyond belief. I have tried moiseturizers and scrubbing, but it does not go away. My cheeks are still really red. Is there anything that can reduce the redness such as lotions, laser treatment, a dietary change or a combination of all three of these. Please list a few if you know of any. I sympathize for all of you because having rubra faceii on your face is like a big red beacon, it can really get annoying and depressing. I really need some help right now and could use all the support I can get. Thankyou!

-Phil

Hi, I have KP Alba. I'm 15 and I live in New Jersey suburbia. On my arms I have like lots of reddish bumps, but they're not smooth at all. Some of them are whiteheads, filled with keratin, I guess. On my thighs I have also red bumps and those are really rough.

Anyway, basically, I'm using the coconut oil treatment, which is working wonders on the arms, not so much on the thighs. But I wear short sleeves and skirts, and sure people notice, and I just explain that it's kp, genetic, and I'm not afraid to show it.

I'm only thirteen, and I have KP. I've had it for most of my life, and it's really annoying. I live in Hawaii also, so I pretty much wear short sleeves/shorts all the time. It used to be embarrassing, but not so much anymore. I don't care about the stuff on my arms, but I do have lots of bumps on my legs which still get to me. Especially because I pretty much live on the beach, and it's not nice to have ugly legs when you're always in a bikini.

Im 18 with KP and I will only weartank tops when I have been tanning. It makes my arms smoother, and you cant see the red dots or my scars! I think the stuff I put on before going in the bed, plus the actualy tanning process does something for KP because I notice when I tan my arms are alot smoother.

I am 14 years old and live in Scotland. I've always had pale skin, but this condition hasn't kicked in until maybe 3/4 years ago. I always thought it was because I haven't eaten healthy enough. Quite a few girls I know also have it, but none of my friends. I have it on the tops of both arms (Red, pimply spots, rough) But also on the back of my lower legs, there seems to be red dots, but they are not spot like, the surface is smooth. My thighs also seem to have the sort of spotty condition too. This makes me exteremely self cautious (sp?). A girl in my P.E. class today suggested to me that it may be a defficiency in Omega 3 (Fish oils) as she saw it on a TV Programme. I thought that tanning may help, but I don't tan easily (usually burning) and it seems to me almost as if the condition is preventing me from tanning?

Just thought I'd share haha. xx

Re: Any 15+ teenagers with KP?

I'm 19 with KP from ankle to hip on both legs, from wrist to wrist and across my shoulders, down my back, a little across my stomach, on my tush and from cheek to cheek on my face(it goes under my chin). All of it is red and raised and has been there since before I can remember.
I moisturize and exfoliate. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
