Despite being Italian I have red hair, blue eyes and very pale skin. I have KP on my arms and legs. It runs in the family.

I'm Irish and have Kp since I was very small (I'm now 30) and know lots and lots of Irish people who have it. I now live in England and find it far less common here.
Contrary to popular belief - red hair has absolutely nothing to do with Celts. A typical Celt looks like me - dark hair and blue/gray eyes. So for the people above who say that they don't think they have any Celtic blood because there is no red hair in the family, you're on the wrong track. My KP has been completely consistant my whole life. It never flares up to due anything or dies down when I do/don't do something. It's always exactly the same except for a slight improvement during summer months. |

I wonder if it more common to have KP on one area or on more than one area?

I have dark hair and hazel eyes- fairly pale skin- tan slowly - my KP is on my arms and legs - it seems to be most changeable on my face - espcially when i have to much carbs to eat - I don't know if anyone else finds this?

I am blonde, blue eyes, but have skin that tans easily and is not dry. In fact most people are surprised that I'm as old as I am as I don't have wrinkles (yet!).

I'm actually between 4 and 5. I'm Native American Indian/Caucasian. I rarely burn (if ever) and tan deeply.

I'm somewhere between 1 and 2 because my hair is brown, not red, but I meet all the other Type 1 criteria. I voted Type 1.
madness--I don't burn while driving but I get so red (during summer) that people think I have a sunburn. My skin usually goes back to normal within an hour. I've given serious consideration to keeping a spritzer in my car with "mint tea" to spray on my arms to help keep them cool in the car. |

Latino: Type 4
Of Mexican origin. Black hair, brown eyes, and olive skin.
I tan easily and when I do it makes my KP less noticeable. I've discovered that my KP is primarily due to Vitamin A deficiency and so drinking carrot juice on a daily basis has really helped with my KP situation. I have noticed that many people who I know to also be of Mexican descent have various degrees of KP going from very mild to severe like mine. As far as I know, our genetic background is mostly made up of a mixture of Native-American and Spanish-Mediterranean background. However, being born and raised in Los Angeles (the most multicultural city in the world) I have noticed KP in many people of different racial backgrounds. In particular, I remember a very severe case of KP on a girl of Armenian descent. Last edited by Goodluck; 08-25-2006 at 05:10 AM. |

I'm of Native-American/Mediterranean descent myself! I'm not the slightest bit latino though. Olive skin, light brown hair, and blue eyes. I turn Bronze/copper when I tan... I know I'm more Native American Indian than anything else, but not wholly Indian.
Do you think that those V8 Splash fruit juices (made with carrot juice) would have the same effect? |

I think i go under Type 2. I have very fair skin but it has gotten more and more resistant towards the sun with time. I dont burn as easily but that doesnt mean i tan easier, my skin is just more resistant. I have KP on my arms, legs, buttocks and cheeks.
